Background-
Jamie grew up as a rich and spoiled member of the Desilijics, being the Nephew of Jabba the Hutt he ran several illegal businesses alongside some legitimate ventures. Never being big enough or offensive enough to earn the ire of any of the other powerful Hutt Clans, he has run foul of the Republic a few times, and done minor jail time. Eventually he decided that he needed a big haul and set his eyes on the Cygnite Empire.
How Jamie came to to rule the Cygnus Star Empire
After allegedly defeating a small pirate group on behalf of the Cygnite Emperor (simply purchasing scrap and firing it in space to leave evidence) he was taken on a tour of their capital. Seeing its crumbling ruins and polluted atmosphere, as well as ineffectual royalty who reclined in frayed luxury while people starved and lived in fear, he took an idea. The Cygnus Star Empire had long spent its money on fripperies, triumphal arches lying in ruins, libraries devoid of readers and largely of books.. Essentially on meglomania, their huge libraries, museums and monuments built by their people transpired to be simple vanity pieces and instead of purchasing ships to protect his people, he was funding the lavish podracing track to allow him to enjoy his favourite sport. Seeing the youthful Emperor Woodkirk XI was a foppish weak man, and seeing that the capital had no more than a hundred royal guards, (many of whom were on permanent paid leave for minor invented medical issues to spare them the tedium of guarding the empty cold halls of the Royal compound) a plan formed in his mind.
Emperor Woodkirk’s fleet had consisted of one Invincible-class Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser (named “Cygnus” unimaginatively) in orbit. Proclaiming he would tour the system to celebrate the glorious invasion. The royal guard went aboard and droids were used to operate simply the propulsion systems. Unfortunately as the ship grazed the atmosphere of Cygnus Prime on its outbound journey (during a slingshot out into deeper space) a problem was encountered when a series of ancient power units and processors ceased operating (thanks to Jamie having placed a droid saboteur inside the ship of the young Woodkirk). The ship plummeted in the atmosphere and impacted nose first, although it remained in control enough to power its manouvering thrusters and hit the ground at less than a thousand KPH. The cylindrical ship drove itself into the ground in an abandoned chemical processing area (to the public out of bounds due to toxic material stored there). Then it fell on one side and caused even greater damage.
In the meantime, the two companies of mercenaries under Jamulon Tiure had sabataged the airspeeders of the local uniformed services. So as the Emperor’s ship crashed (visible from the capital in a mountain range several hundred miles away) the dozen fighters on Jamie’s Yacht occupied the airspace. The local police had already been bribed and had moved from the palace leaving the few royal guards left alone with Jamie and several score men. Dressed in his Hutt armour, Jamie and a dozen of his toughs butchered their way through the palace, clubbing and slaughtering every one of the gaudily armoured and poorly trained guards.
Sending a shuttle to rescue “survivors” from the wreck of the Cygnus’ hull. The toxic and radiological contamination in the area meant few were found alive, and any retainers of the regime or members of the Woodkirk blood were butchered. Aside from Woodkirk himself who was taken into the darkest dungeon of the Imperial Palace.
Declaring the Emperor dead, and his line extinct, and also citing how theyd failed to protect the Cygnites from Pirates or Crime he promised a bright new future to these desparate people. People living in cities containing less than ¼ of their original population, filled with empty factories and buildings (for it was an adage that a wise Cygnite took wing and flew away). Jamie promised lavishly to restore Cygnite glory and prestige and use his connections with the Hutts to negotiate a lasting security for their shipping. This was an important promise because the Cygnites had been brought into a third world standard of living thanks to the constant piracy causing the once famous Cygnite Factory Complexes (makers of many forms of manufactured goods) to become bankrupt, leaving the few remaining ones to eek out a business by exporting small amounts via the few small freighters hardy enough to run the “Cygnus Danger Zone”
Thus Jamie became the Bey of the Cygnus Star Empire, filling his palace with the assorted lowlives associated with Desilijic Hutts. Gambling, Prostitution and Substance use was legalized but exclusively in “Imperial Charter Establishments” whos funds flowed into Jamie’s coffers. But the scum attracted to the Empire were often Merchants or Traders, and so the availability of transport out of the Star Empire increased boosting manufacturing a little. Jamie was true to his word and left the spending of these profits the locals accrued to themselves, not taxing business and helping turn at least Cygnus Prime into a hive of scum and villainy, but a relatively prosperous one. From the wealth he began to accrue he would sprinkle breadcrumbs to the poor to appear kind, issuing food and fuel to some of the poorest citizens essentially to boost his own popularity.
Best of all, as a favoured relation of Jiliac Desilijic Tiure, he was able to negotiate a treaty which while pragmatic, would have horrified the rulers of the Cygnus Star Empire in the past.
