Captain Adony stood at the head of his crack company of Marines as their dropship descended through the atmosphere of Jerne, crossing a wide dry plain toward a small rocky range of hills, in the distance was the smear of the planet's only city, Jerne City was a small-time operation and accounted for half the world's population. The locals had informed them there were no Governments here, and they simply ran their society according to the corporations who mined there illegally but employed the locals. A quad of Alderaanian fighters could be seen skimming over the hills as they approached. Adony intook his breath as the lander's door slid open and he could see the Heavy Lifter that had placed their prefabricated base take off and head back up into the sky. The lander touched down and he ran up the Alderaan Flag, panting in the heat of the day.

The Garrison was not impressive on paper. Orokeet Company numbered ninety men plus ten specialists, on the staff too were several labour droids, some astromechs and a loadlifter. He flipped the manifest and looked down, they had two local guides, twenty naval personnel, mostly technicians and operators for the bulky comms and sensor array that they seemed to be fiddling with as well as the six pilots sent for the two fighters.

Moving down to the amoury he saw it was reasonably stocked, each man had been assigned suitable weapons and ammunition was plentiful. Two squat laser cannons on tripods sat in the middle of the room, being kept there so as not to intimidate the locals. Instead the sentry posts had smaller light repeaters on mountings. Next to the armoury was the garage, here he felt a little happiness, three of the new RTT Recon Transports had been dispatched, painted in the Alderaan Marine Crimson that always evoked pride, alongside an up-armoured Baktoid Platoon Attack Craft which while fitted with seats were uncomfortable for fully kitted up Alderaanian Marines.

"Lieutenant Moore!" he shouted breaking the silence of the Garage which was naturally uninhabited while the men of his Marine Company were settling into their barracks and the Naval folk pre-occupied with their technological figuring. Moments later a sweaty thin lieutenant entered and saluted. "Moore. Get Glarus Platoon down here in patrol gear, make sure they've plenty of hydration for this heat. We're going to go and take these new Recon Whippets to go and have a look at "Jerne City", ten credits says it doesn't even have a gate.".

(Below: The Alderaanian Outpost, Adony Station - Built to house a regiment but at present held by a force of detachments)

"You're on, sir" the Lieutenant said with a smirk and ten minutes later they headed off down the canyon valley their Outpost was atop and down the wide plain following a dried up river bed in the direction of Jerne City. One of the Pilots of the Mankvims got nosy though and went ahead doing a flyover and taking pictures to transmit back to the outpost.

The city was not a pretty sight.

Whether or not mining was conducted illegally was a matter of opinion; there were certainly other worlds with vested mining interests on Jerne, but Lorrd was one of those who'd gone about it legally enough, having filed petitions with the Senate, operated through the proper channels and come to agreements with the locals for good wages, fair hours and a safe work environment.

One of the better-sized operations on Jerne, Garth Mining Ltd. had a massive office in Jerne City; the manager being a cousin within House Garth. As such, he was a little surprised when, out on his office balcony for a kaf break and a quick smoke, a snubfighter flew overhead. Curious. One didn't see a lot of fighters on Jerne, but it didn't register overmuch as he finished his cup and went back inside.

(Not sure I ever saw this mentioned before.)

There Alderaanians left the locals alone, not approaching them unless approached and stayed to their outpost aside from exchanging gifts with a couple of local tribes. The main fleet was en-route from Alderaan a short distance behind the first arrival, along with the troop ships for the garrison. On any entertainment device on the world with a Senate Channel (not that it was likely much subscribed to) would have Broadcast the Declaration of Annexation.

In the evening of the first night, thinking it prudent to speak to the locals before their city had a Core World's elite military parachute in, which could happen the next day after all. He contacted the headman of the friendly hamlet down the ravine from his Garrison and had the man taken to town in a speeder. The offer was oral and in both basic and the local language, inviting the community leaders to come and speak with the Military Governor over dinner, and discuss what they wanted for their world our of the construction plan outlined by Ordan in the Senate.

Thus Captain Adony spent the early evening on the wall, seeing if the city sent visitors for him. The Officers mess set for a light meal over wine.

The Alderaanian Fleet arrived a day later and began to do as it had stated. Four Alderaan-class War Frigates and pair of Thranta-class ship arrived along with a half dozen large freighters which unloaded their cargo of prefabrifcated bases.

One Frigate remained constantly on patrol around the planet's orbit as the others guarded the bulk freighters as their cargos were hauled down to the surface. In the capital there was door to door distribution of supplies such as holonet viewers, food and other essentials. Droids would assemble out of town outposts and the first regiments of infantry would buzz down a defensible locations across the planet.

The Diplomatic Corps was present and established a defensible compound and Embassy in abandoned land in the Capital.

A week on a Jedi Justice Cruiser exited hyperspace at the point set by the Alderaanians. "This is Jedi Master Ka Dek, I have aboard my Padawan learner, Kang, and my crew of Six Antarian Rangers, I can promise you none of us will give you any trouble, we simply wish to investigate this newly embraced Republic territory." they'd head for a landing pad in an Alderaanian outpost in the delapidated capital, noting scattered ruins in many of the regions around the capital, perhaps there was an ancient mystery here..

Once landed Ka Dek would raise House Garth on the communicator "Hello, I'm supposing you're the receptionist. I'm a Jedi, my name is Master Kadek and on my travels I am visiting newly developing worlds such as this one. Would you be able to have Mr Garth or his senior spokesman available to talk to me in an hour or so?" he left the earpiece in but muted the microphone as he waited for a reply from the Garths.

He set out across the city, he had intentionally landed an hours walk from the Garth buildings so him and his Padawan could talk and take in the surroundings. "What does this Planet make you feel, Apprentice? What do you sense and observe?" the two of them would be walking with no escort in their Jedi attire.

'House Garth' as such, was not present on the planet, but Garth Mining Ltd. was. The receptionist, upon being contacted, gave a friendly enough response that Robert Garth, overseer of Garth Mining Ltd. on Jerne, would be fine to meet with the Jedi Master at the appointed time.

Ka Dek and his very silent Padawan would arrive at the Garth Mining Ltd. Theyd be easily identified at the gates asking to see Mr Robert Garth.

When the pair of Jedi arrived, they'd be ushered into a comfortable, if functional, waiting room and offered refreshments. Within perhaps five minutes of their arrival, Robert Garth emerged from his office to greet them. Robert was of average height, slightly balding and a bit older, with the look of a man who'd worked hard once but was going to seed. Like most people, he respected the Jedi. Unlike most, he was wealthy and knowledgeable enough to know that, as he was no criminal, he needn't fear them.

"Welcome, welcome Master Ka-Dek and..." his voice trailed off as he looked to Ka-Dek's padawan. If a name was given, he'd greet the younger man. If not, he'd continue with Ka-Dek. Once he'd given his name in return, he'd invite them into his office, see them settled and then sat down himself. "So what can I do for you gentlemen today?"

Kadek would take a tea while Padawan Kang remained silent and sat sipping a beverage as the two men talked "This is my Padawan, Kang, he's usually quite the talker but currently suffering the after effects of a throat infection so finds speaking painful at the moment." he would gesture about "It's a nice setup you've got here, I was wondering if your prospectors turned up anything interesting, or ruined structures on the land you mine? I'm fascinated by the Jerni and would love to get a better knowledge of them, as someone who pays for a lot of digging, I'd like to ask what you turn up, mainly remains of the old human settlements or Jerni ruins?"

"Well, I certainly hope your padawan recovers fully," Robert said, with a concerned look at Kang. "If there's any need, feel free to make use of our localized medical droids. Hearing the Jedi's question out, Robert sighed regretfully. "I'm afraid I can't help you with that, Master Jedi. We've been exceedingly careful with the relatively small area of land we mine on Jerne, yet we've come across no ruins or relics. Lorrdian inspectors are rather severe about such things, and while a find can stop excavation and work for an extended period of time, this particular mining facility is very small compared to some of the others Garth Mining Ltd. has. However, I can certainly notify you if anything turns up."

"That is good. You must keep me posted of what you find. Naturally its all yours but I'd love to have a look at any archaeological finds, its a personal interest of mine. Now, I was wondering, can you suggest any fine archaeological collections on Lorrd, and I'd be most pleased to say hello to Lord Garth if he would like to have a friendly meeting with a member of the Jedi Order - we often seem so distant and aloof but I'm always happy to answer questions and explain our policies etc to those who wish to know. If he has a collection of antiquities all the better. We are heading to Lorrd next you see, my young Padawan here needs to learn about his history.

We've got a busy itinerary booked; first and foremost to visit Crypt of Martyrs and lay a wreath on the tomb of Master Mari-Elan Nora, the Liberator of Lorrd and one of the Jedi I most deeply respect in our history. Few can reconcile being a warrior and a moral exemplar but she is one. There is set to be a Youngling Clan at the Seswenna Sector Jedi Academy when it is built named Nora Clan, for those youths who most display her qualities of

I also hope to listen to visiting lecturerers as well as present one myself on at Lorrd University. The sites of the Slave Pits of Lorrd will be a deeply somber place to visit but I must impress upon my Padawan the seriousness of the Kanz Disorders as part of his historical education." he smiled "Do you suggest any other locations worthy of visit on your Homeworld, Robert?"
