Abomination, Castigation, Annihilation?

Those were words Kerubiel enjoyed as his ship approached Lorrd at hyperspace. He had his own Kabal of warriors aboard these ships and had come to admire these Trandoshans, they did not tire, or feel pain, or complain. Much better company than humans. They also seemed to be immune to the toxic effects of the cargo they'd brought the Lorrdians, one which was not a weapon in itself but could be the cause of many ills in time.

His ship was ahead so the rest could arrive prepared, a PB-950 and it's blunt nose erupted and it proceded towards the planets best known fort, in Kinyov province, avoiding the stations in orbit, he hoped to take slaves from there if he could, approaching the atmosphere but staying on a course to keep him away from any local defenses. He blipped off an immediate scan as it came in, shields raising and the details being transmitted to the rest of the raid. He opened his comm to taunt the Lorrdians, since none of the wretched Trandoshans spoke basic in the menacing way he could.

"I am a carnivore. A hunter." he chuckled "Even a madman some say. Surrender to me your merchant ships and I will allow crews to leave and you to go about your lives. If not I will cause significant misery." the others approach vectors were decided. The two Dragonboats and four patrol boats would come in and attack the biggest freighters or any capital ships if they were here, and if not would begin to pick off the repair yard's gun platforms then hit it for slaves before the capital, there must be much treasure to be had there and many choice slaves, turbolasers and other weapons were warmed and checked, these would be under the mercenaries leader, the big trandoshan known as Tssk. The other two would appear the one entering Kinyov airspace.

His raid would be different. He planned to hit and decimate the legendary fortress of the Starks and beggar their people. He intended to begin to raid the weak slaves again and again, a people fit for slavery who meekly submitted to it. How best to break the spirits of the people than to destroy their safe places first, show them their leaders were weak and pitiful and they would panic. Then he could begin the work of collecting them with slave nets and selling them or keeping them in his mines.

Oh yes. A good day so far.

Tssk had the two gatling turbolasers on each dragonboat hum gently as they prepared to rotate and the ships approached their hyperspace exit. He picked his tooth idly with a bone, one of the many strewn on the floor. He disliked working for others, but this one had a certain, piquance and had let him eat his own child, in front of him no less.

Usually he asked humans like that to make them uncomfortable and realized it was socially taboo to do so... but he actually ended up feeling uncomfortable as the man snatched the babe enthusiastically from its young mother's arms and laid it to rest in his claws. The man was truly born to violence and the passionate abandon with which he inflicted suffering had along with the aurodium, persuaded him it wasnt a good idea to meet this man and say no, not because he thought the man would kill him there, but because of the thousand sadistic things he would do when he met you again. So he had looked up at the walls around the human's throne room, hung with still living humans and aliens, kept alive with life support but feeling the constant agony of having been driven onto the wall mounted spikes.

"Prepare to attack!" he ordered as the arrival counter ticked down. He flicked on his targeting computer, awaiting telemmetry.

I'm happy to agree to waive requesting if you just want to use a few forces, say the main fleet is on exercise and its still awaiting ships from the request etc? I'm not planning an invasion or anything, just a raid))

[ I meant for the sake of posterity. I prefer not to use what I don't have, if that makes any sense? With the rate Jace has been getting to requests, I don't see this getting held up too long. ]

Even so, its dubious retconning them in to the same extent. I am happy to just go with some simple items you know will be approved from your request if you like. Its just a quick raid and I dont want it to take long so I can continue on with the character, and not have him hanging pending request which some have been since oct/nov.))

[ I'll just roll with the modified request and hope I don't take too much flak for waiting. ]

Lorrd Control, based out of the FireStar, maintained a well-kept and accurate number of sensors that picked up on Cronau radiation. Naturally, this was a useful tool for picking up on craft that dropped out on the edges of the system; possible raiders or spice-dealers making illegal drop-offs and the like, but it also served to alert Lorrd Control on the arrival of freighters and passenger vessels as well. As such, the arrival of the PB-950 was detected as soon as it dropped out of hyperspace, space-wards of the defensive station. Whether Kerubiel knew it or not, he would have done better not announcing himself with such an open intent; had he done so, or waited to make the broadcast, he would likely have had more luck getting past, especially with his backup and distraction coming in. Unfortunately, he made the call before Lorrd Control could even welcome him.

As well, dropping out of hyperspace outside of marked lanes, and with such close proximity to the station, was enough to set off alarms; there were several dozen BFF-1 freighters in the queue, as well as a number of supertankers and a half-dozen transport ships of varied types, laden with passengers destined for varied universities on Lorrd. Kerubiel was lucky in the regard that he'd emerged from hyperspace away from the Class 1000, and that, by sheer, ultimate luck, he'd caught the normal squadron of defensive fighters during a shift change, with twelve entering a hangar on the station and twelve departing. His arrival, though, kicked a number of things into high gear.

Lorrd Control went into immediate alert status, calling Green Flight to defensive posture. With the Consular-class vessels absent on a training mission, there was no time to recall them, obviously. However, there were always two PB-950 patrol boats and a quartet of Tri-Mark VIIs on duty as escort, patrol, scanning and interdiction vessels. Still, the advent of additional nature of ships had the flight of pilots who had all but landed alerted that they'd need to return. Likewise, in Lorrd City, where a spaceport had two squadrons of HLAF-500s groundside, pilots were scrambling to their ships to the sounds of alarm klaxons. In the storm of all the extra vessels on standby being called up, Kerubiel's solitary vessel wasn't lost in the shuffle; simply not a primary to respond to.

Nonetheless, the Kinyov Province's own defense forces were also alerted, what with the ship's trajectory taking it so close to Qatamer. Being the capitol of the Kinyov Province, it was a high-priority defense target. In case of need, automated defense systems on Castle Stark came online, powering up from their dormant states and preparing for use, while pilots scrambled to their crafts.

The three coming in over Kinyov glided gently through the stratosphere, going into the wind but didn't do anything like dropping down to planet level. The other two formed up into a wedge behind Kerubiels Patrol Boat when he nodded to the Gunnery officer. "Open the cargo bay doors, set timers on each container to detonate as soon as we're a second out.

The containers were pushed out and in all three hundred tons of dry powder was in the high atmosphere, where it would remain for years and travel across the world. These were hot alpha particle sources created from an isotope with a 1 year half life. Now this wasnt radiation which could go through your forcefield, or even clothes, or skin, but inside your organs it would take just one particle to destroy your life with a cancer..

At extreme range but not worrying because as they were now going up up up the missiles would just fall to ground anyway, they dropped 3 concussion missiles headed for Stark's estate and two other population centers in Kinyov.

The ships under Tssk would drop in along the main civilian route seeing it wasnt heavily defended and open fire on all guns at any ship not close to the space station, the dragonboats remarkably gatling turbolasers spinning dozens of blasts in the time a single cannon would fire three. The PB950s in his group would loop around and see if there were any ships quickly snatchable before leaving.. if there were any ships behind them on the main route in that could be gunned down into surrendering and quickly boarded, theyd do that. If there werent they'd just stay and escort the Dragonboats.

The dragonboats cargo bays opened. Six thick cannisters rolled out. They were each mounted with a Universal Jammer so you couldnt see inside, a simple rocket to boost them towards the planet and a cheap parachute so make sure the impact didnt kill.. Inside each was an orphan child with a commlink and a proton torpedo rigged to explode if the gas mixture or pressure of the room changed (anyone opened the container) around the torpedo in each there were bags of grey powder taped. The children had enough ambient oxygen to survive the 30 minutes it'd take for the box to reach lorrd.

As the Lorrdian planetary defenses woke up, the force would ready to turn away and retreat so they could jump to hyperspace, but keeping up the destruction until they had fighters inbound in under a minute.

In the time it took for Kerubiel's vessels to drop the canisters, which were unimpeded in their detonation and could spread their future deadly cargo, the Kinyov Defense Force pilots were already in the air. The concussion missile inbound for Castle Stark was detonated harmlessly in the air, far above any structures, thanks to the tracking systems on the flak guns placed on the castle itself; likewise, defensive anti-air turrets of the same type near the Qatamer spaceport downed the warhead headed for them in the same defensive manner. The only other 'large' city in the Kinyov Province, with a population of roughly three thousand people, was unprotected by such defenses, for there was no need. The warhead struck a factory district, resulting in hundreds of thousands of credits worth of damages and the death of nearly a hundred workers.

The squadron of T-24 airspeeders were obviously outmatched and outgunned by the heavier patrol boats, and as such, had hung back well out of range. What was in place to respond as Kerubiel's three ships made for space were two squadrons of HLAF-500s. Within range for warheads, the lead quartet of fighters from Red Squadron unleashed a pair of proton torpedoes apiece at the pair of rearward PB-950s. Blue Squadron had broken off, climbing steeply and at an angle so as to be able to intercept the craft when they broke orbit.

-----

Where Tssk and his ships came in, the civilian craft were those that would be struck, and more than one sustained heavy damage in the pass as the crews on-board worked to keep critical systems active while comms personnel shouted for help, calling for aid. Unfortunately for Tssk, they'd only have one freighter they might have a chance of boarding and capturing, but they would risk much: with the relative closeness of the ships in queue, Tssk's forces would only have time for that solitary pass; one squadron of HLAF-500s was already inbound and almost in proton torpedo range, and the PB-950s and Tri-Mark VIIs were right behind. While most were limited by their range of laser cannons and the like, the Class 1000 would be their greatest enemy, what with its superior weapons and range. Already, ion cannon blasts were streaking into their escape vector as the ship surged forwards, engines straining to force them off their escape route.

The PB-950s were smaller targets, and so it was the Dragonboats, larger and easier targets, that became the full focus for the cruiser's full onslaught. The six canisters were hardly ignored, but with unknown contents and the presence of jamming present, it was questionable as to what they contained, at least until the panicked cries of children from each source came over the open channel. Under such circumstances, there was little to do but try and mitigate the issue. Calm personnel from Lorrd Control tried to contact the children, to determine if it was a realistic chance children were really within, seeing as they could not verify life signs due to the jammers, and if so, if any of the children could describe their status and contents of the capsules.

Kerubiels group would prepare to drop the remaining missiles they had as a cluster munition when they were out of the atmosphere being chased, quickly they broke it and headed up toward the gravity well's edge, powering hyperdrives as they went. Their shields fully charged they dropped chaff and flares as the missiles approached, all three quadlasers spitting out fire lethally and then moving to another target each and engaging it, mercenary pilots this was what they lived for, the thrill of battle. They survived unscathed this time.

Tssk's team turned about and moved off pushing their engines to the max. They had the advantage of all their quadlasers facing rearward so intercepting any torpedoes coming up their backsides was a wall of red laser cannon fire. The Dragonboats would sustain fire, but being Trandoshan ships and corvette size they could take a pounding, some hull damage was done from the impacts despite shields but they would be away in seconds now they had turned about. They powered away along with their escort PB-950s watching the timer to hyperspace jump tick quickly down, feeling like forever to them. One PB950 was struck but its solid little hull took the impact but began to loose atmosphere, the crew all pulling on pressure helmet.

The left dragonboats shields flickered just for a second before coming back online during which it had a cargo module blasted away from it but no loss of operational ability.
