It had been only been a few days since Ana Stark had left for Coruscant.  She was never gone for more than a week at a time and the trips were infrequent; every couple of months at the most.  Her job was something she enjoyed, and one that she was good at, despite the fact that it was not what she had gone to school to do.  This trip was easier than she had originally thought it would be, however, so she returned home to surprise her family.  Leaving Alyn and Jackson was the hardest part of her job, and she was glad that she had slowed her practice down and only took select (and well-paying) clients on occasion.

Once her shuttle landed, quite unannounced at her request, Ana disembarked and left the hangar bay to go inside the massive castle that they lived in.  It had been difficult, five years earlier, to get used to living there, but once it was home, it was home, and she loved it.  Of course, as if on que, a heavy-set older housekeeper came bustling down the hall in a fuss.  Mrs. Mityea hated surprises, and always had everything planned out, and when she didn't, she fussed.  "Mrs. Mityea, please, no fussing.  I just want to see my husband and son...no fanfare or fussing needed."  Ana said, almost exasperatedly as she removed her white, knee length coat and let the woman take the garment.

Ana left her then, and walked down the hall towards their family rooms.  She checked the delicate silver chrono around her left wrist as she walked.  It was early in the day, and Jackson was probably still with his tutor.  Yes, at four years old, he was already starting schooling, but only part of the day.  She wasn't about to steal his childhood away, but preschool and learning never hurt.  Instead of interrupting, she went for the master room, and would check Alyn's office for him if he was not there.  Ana tugged lightly on the hem of her white suit jacket, smoothing the silk fabric of the jacket and then her fitted pencil skirt as she walked.

"Alyn?"  She called out as she slipped into the rooms quietly.  "Are you here?"

Stark was indeed within his office, looking over a calculation sheet on business figures. When he heard Ana's voice, however, he pushed back his chair, stood, stretched and went to meet her. "Ana," he replied, "How was your trip to Coruscant?" The capitol of the Republic was not a place Stark liked to visit often, though business did take him there more often than he cared for. The Starks of Lorrd and the Starks of Coruscant were not on the best of terms, after all, and any time he didn't have to see his cousin Quintus was a good day. Stark had his own skeletons in the closet, but Quintus was a downright rogue.

Glancing about for Jackson, Stark recalled that the boy was in the midst of his lessons for the day. Stark had promised to take him to the castle shooting range later, if his daily marks were good.

"Fancy...and thankfully brief.  Luckily for me, the problem that the Representative contacted me about did not end up being much of a problem to fix."  She smiled warmly and dropped her briefcase onto one of the chairs across from his desk.  "Which is why I came home early.  I should have called.  Mrs. Mityea is nearly having a meltdown that I did not, as usual."  Ana gave a brief glance from him to his desk and them back.  "Did I interrupt important work?  I can come back later if you want."  She said before she actually moved over to him and slipped her arms around his waist.

"I'd like to spend the afternoon with you and Jackson, if you are not too busy.  If you are, I was thinking of taking him to the zoo or the botanical gardens.  Or perhaps tomorrow."  While Ana did not smother the boy, she did like to do things with him and not have nannies raise him.  That had always been something she insisted upon, from the moment she told Alyn that she was pregnant.  "I heard a rumor that I am afraid may take me away for a couple of weeks this time.  Hopefully not, but..."  She trailed off, leaving the rest of her statement open for the moment.

"Well, that's always a plus when things turn out to be easier than you thought," Stark said with a laugh. "As for interrupting anything important... well, it's nothing that can't wait. I have a veritable army of accountants and fact-finders and the like that keep the company running, after all. They don't need my input on everything or constantly checking their work. Still, I like to keep them honest and on their toes. The design team needs a commendation for some of the work they're drawing up."

Wrapping his arms in turn around her, he nodded. "Let me check my schedule. Hm. My afternoon just freed up. Whether the zoo or the gardens, the choice is yours, my love, but I'm always willing to spend as much time with my family as I can. What's this rumor, though, that might be taking you away for so long?" Despite curiosity in his wife's work, Stark was always on the lookout for any knowledge he could use to put Lorrd ahead. There were certain things being discussed behind closed doors that had Lorrd's future and expansion in mind.

Ana looked up at Alyn for a moment, almost as if she was contemplating his question. He would hear it in the news sooner or later, though how the galaxy perceived it would be up to her almost entirely. "Ah. I may have to go to Naboo for a spell. The newly elected King and his daughter have some.....PR issues that need smoothed out. Not too big of a deal. It just might take some time." She explained, without giving too much away.

"I was thinking that if I do go, I could take Jackson with me. He would like Naboo, and I think it would be a good experience for him." In truth, she felt a little guilty going away and leaving Alyn to be the primary caregiver for their four year old, despite the help that he had in the castle. There were times when she thought, seriously, about no longer working, but Ana had a hard time imagining not doing what she loved. Sometimes, she went for months without picking up a client, since she was very selective about them.

Ana  a finally snapped her thoughts back into focus and on Alyn. "Or Mrs. Miteya could keep him a few days and you could come for a long weekend.....it's been ages since we have had a vacation alone...."

"Naboo again, eh?" Stark chuckled and shook his head. "What would they do if they didn't have you to straighten out their issues? Still, it's a good client to have. With the King of Naboo under your belt and on your resume, you'll have no issue grabbing more influential people on Coruscant. A few good high-profile cases and you could retire. Or hire on some help." He looked pointedly at her, then. "Some days it seems like you overwork yourself."

He thought on her offer to take Jackson with her, as well as the opportunity to take a vacation. "I think it would do Jackson some good to get out of the castle for a while. Tutors and nannies and guards and droids can only go so far. The air on Naboo might do him good. Still, I'll send a couple of men to watch over you both. Discreetly, of course." No, Stark wasn't about to send his family, the most valuable thing he had, off to Naboo without an escort of some kind. There would be Stark house guards, of course. And he'd have some of his people in Citadel directed to keep an eye and ear out from the criminal side.

"I may join you, if I have the chance. I've a few things coming up in the near future."

She nodded and turned her gaze to him. "I've been thinking about it, more and more, Alyn. That's why I am so selective of clients. I don't want to work too much and be away from Lorrd and you and Jackson especially. You know how I feel about kids being raised by nannies."  Ana pulled herself out of his arms gently and then turned and sat on the edge of his desk. "Besides, the foundation has been on the back burner way too long. After this, I'll consider scaling back more."  It made her feel good that he worried she was over working herself, though she always knew how much he cared.

Ana changed the subject back to a vacation. "So what is it that you have coming up? You need to take a vacation, Alyn Stark." She scolded him gently, though she was just teasing him, and hopefully he would know that.

Stark laughed and gestured grandly about himself. "Take a vacation? And give up all this? Why ever would I do a thing like that?" He shook his head ruefully. "No, I quite agree I need a vacation. It's simply that I'm trying to get more of the Lorrd Engineering plants and shipyards online. I tell you, Ana, if my father hadn't neglected Lorrd Engineering, and my grandfather before him, we could have been a damned powerhouse. Well, not as big as KDY or Sluis Van Shipyards, but certainly as big as Rothana. And why not? We have two entire planets with dedicated shipyards. Even if one is non-operational."

He sighed and leaned against a nearby dresser, looking at her. "I may very well have to take you up on this vacation. Don't want to start getting age wrinkles from stress, right?"

Ana noticed that he dutifully avoided her question about what he had going on, but she would never press the issue.  "It will be a powerhouse, Alyn.  Because if I know you, and I am pretty sure that I do, you won't give up until it's done."  She pushed her fingertips through her chestnut brown locks and touseled the curls softly.  "So, when you're ready....if you're ready, we can take a trip or something."  Ana shrugged her shoulders a little and smiled before she stood and straightened her suit jacket with her fingertips.

"I'm going to go and get changed and get Jackson, I think, and let you get back to work."  She said before she moved close and pressed a gentle kiss to Alyn's cheek.  Ana rested her hand on the side of his neck for a moment before she turned to grab her briefcase.

Shrugging slightly, Stark gave her a doubtful look. "Well, SVS, KDY and Rothana have always been major names, at least for more than a century. Lorrd Engineering has the production capability to rival all of them, but only when fully operating. It isn't cheap - or easy - to get everything back how it should be. For now, at least, I think the new powered armor line we're working on will see some good returns, as well as most of our current projects. We need to break big into the ship scene, however. I'm considering transports over warships, these days."

When she mentioned fetching Jackson, Stark smiled and returned her kiss. "I'm never averse to a little bit of travel. Go grab our son and let's see where everyone feels like going."
