Ilanah Ilyone sat in the garden, alone for the moment, concealed by a small grove of sapling trees and Romanaria flowers.  The stone bench nestled in the grove had been one of her favorite spots since she was a child, since it was hidden from prying eyes; it was her castle then and she was a princess.  At the time, she knew nothing of the world and her imagination ran wild.  As she sat there, she reached out and touched the petals of one of the red flowers before she slipped from the bench and sat on the stone pavers.

The black silk of her gown pooled around her and she slipped a small vial from its safe spot between her cleavage.  Nyriaan spice; her addiction and probably her downfall one day.  The vial was blue glass, with a silver flip top in the shape of  delicate flower.  Obviously its intended purpose was to hold some sort of fragrance oil or perfume, but that was obviously no longer its use.  Ilanah gently flipped the sealed top open and poured a thin line of the drug along the back of her left hand, before she inhaled it quickly through her nostril.  With her thumb, she secured the top onto the vial before she slipped it back into her corset securely.

Her thoughts wandered as the drugs began to flow into her system.  It was only a small amount; not enough to make her too incoherent for the rest of the evening, and just enough to make her stop shaking and relax.  In that time she thought about Cycerin, and then the thoughts melted to the dance she had with 'Lord Orlando' and then to Kal.  Poor Kal, who she had started to care about in the short time she had known him.  It wasn't something she had wanted or had planned, but it happened.  Her world had no place for someone like him.  He likely didn't approve of her lifestyle or what she did, but he hadn't outwardly judged her yet either.  She knew that she would bring him down to a place he shouldn't be in, if a relationship ever could have happened.

But it couldn't.  She had assumed, and he had not dissuaded her, that he was a Jedi, so her thoughts were moot.  Eventually, desperation to forget him, and to not feel attached would set in, and that would be followed with even more drugs to dull her mind from the thoughts.  That had happened before, not over a guy, but to force her to forget about the family that she felt was absent from her life; her dead mother and her mostly absentee father.

Ilanah sighed and rested one of her arms on the stone bench as she sat there, and she removed the black mask from her eyes and laid it on the bench.  A far as she knew, no one saw her slip away from the party, nor would they have known where she had gone.  Someone might have seen her, she didn't know, or if her father noticed her missing, he might check there first or at least send someone.  For the moment though, she just enjoyed the nearly quiet solitude of the garden.

It had been a while since he had gotten that kiss on the cheek from Ilanah, before she went off with 'Lord Orlando' to dance.  It hadn't been a boring, uneventful time for him while he was awaiting his next encounter with her.  He wasn't really the social butterfly, but Kal had made a few new aquiantances while making his way through the people in attendance.  One happened to be a business man that had become very successful in shipment of goods throughout the galaxy.  Who knows, maybe that would benefit him in the end.

Having polished off a few more drinks, and still not feeling the effects of the alcohol in his system, Kal decided that he wouldn't mind finding where Ilanah had made off to and see if he could get to know her a little better.  There had been a spark between the two of them, and he could tell that she was having the same feelings that he was having.  He had to find out if there was more to it.  Was it possible for there to be more between the two of them, especially with him being a Jedi and having to follow their rules.

After minutes of searching, and having no luck at all at finding her within the ball room, he got a tad bit frustrated and needed to get some fresh air.  Making his way back out of the ball room and out to the gardens, he slipped off his mask and began to just look up at the stars, knowing what was out there.  The night sky was absolutely clear.  He smiled, as he found a rock to sit down on, saying to himself out loud, "It is such a nice night..."

She was startled by the sudden voice nearby, letting out an audible gasp which would have given herself away had he actually not known she was out there. Hesitantly, Ilanah peeked around the edge of the trees and flowers as she stood, only to see Kal sitting just outside on a large rock. Carefully, she plucked one of the flowers and rolled the stem between her fingers before she stepped out of the grove and let herself be seen. Her mask, however, she left laying on the bench.

"It's my favorite place in the world." It was an honest truth. She caught his gaze with her darkly lined eyes and let a smile cross her crimson stained lips. She felt better and more relaxed, which would be obvious compared her her trembling and flighty nervousness earlier. "I just needed a few minutes. There were just entirely too many people in there, and I didn't think anyone would miss me." Ilanah explained as she stopped near to Kal.

If he would let her, she would take a moment and lean close and tuck the stem of the deep red flower into the lapel buttonhole of his suit jacket. "Too many people for you too?" She had actually nearly ran out when she spotted Jaryn Soban nearing in the crowd in the ballroom, not that she didn't like him, but because she didn't feel up to dodging questions....especially as sober as she had been.  Ilanah lingered close for a moment, fussing with the flower, before she admired her handiwork.  "That's better...."  He might not have cared either way,but the striking crimson looked good against the black of his suit.

There, in the sky above, a shooting star raced across, disappearing off in the distance.  Just as he had made a wish, and it vanished, out from the grove, Ilanah made her presence known to him.  His head turned to her as she began to tell him that this was her favorite place in the world and that she too was, basically, out to get some fresh air, just like he had been.

He would fully turn to her just as she leaned in close and tucked the stem of the red flower into the button hole of his jacket.  He looked down at it before he would answer her question as she continued to fuss with the flower, making it perfect, "It's not that its too many people, it just didn't feel the same without the right company at my side..."  He would look back up into her eyes, hoping she would catch that he was talking about her.

"Oh come now....there were plenty of single, desperate women in there, Kal. A young, handsome man like you could have found a nice sugar mama." She teased him. "I've seen half of them fling themselves at my father more than once." Ilanah said quietly. Of course, she knew what he was hinting at, but she wasn't sure how to respond to it otherwise. She was enamored with him, quite a bit, but she wasn't willing to admit it to him just yet.  Ilanah wondered if she ever could, and quickly knew that she couldn't.

"I know what you mean though. It's like being lost, even though you're surrounded by people. Especially when there is only one person that can find you." He had no idea how true that was for her, despite her assurances to herself that she was fine. She was very lost. Lost in a world that she probably would never be able to get out of on her own.....or alive.

He would nod, showing that he was paying attention to what she was saying.  It was exactly how he felt, even though he shouldn't admit it.  It wasn't the Jedi way.  Those kind of emotions could corrupt everything he was taught, but as he looked down into her eyes, he didn't care about it.  All that was on his mind was this moment, right here, right now.  When she spoke about there being only one person that can find you, he could tell that she really meant it and could have possibly been looking for just that.

He was almost unsure what to say at this point.  He just let it out, without hesitation, "I'm not looking for a desperate woman, Ilanah.  Nor would I want to."  He'd pause, taking a moment to look down into her eyes,"Like you said, there's that one person that can find you...and you never know, maybe they've already found you..."

She had, of course, only been teasing him about some of the women in attendance that evening. Sure, there were certainly those who might enjoy the company of such a woman, but she knew that it would not be Kal. Especially not because of what he was....what he is, rather. Ilanah looked up at him for a moment, blinking her hazel eyes slowly as she drank in his words and expression. Her next words were rather brave, but it could have been the Nyriaan spice making her feel more bold and confident.

"Do you think you found me, Kal? Or did I find you?" Se had no idea that he had carefully arranged their first meeting, but she had arranged the second. No, he had shown up at the club and taken her home, so she had arranged the third meeting. As she pondered her words, she reached up and adjusted the flower in his lapel, again, and then ran her fingertips lightly down his arm until they found his hand. Then, in a brief moment of clarity (or perhaps insanity), she spoke again.

"I don't want to be lost anymore."

His chest began to rise and fall, faster and faster, as his breathing quickened as her hand found his after briefly adjusting the flower on his lapel again.  She wasn't the only one that was having a brief moment of clarity or insanity in her actions.  He too had a moment as his free hand moved up and found it's place right on the side of her neck.  As he looked down into her eyes, he softly spoke, "You aren't..."  Just as he was finished with the short response, he would lean forward, and pull her towards him, attempting to place his lips onto hers.  He didn't care if it wasn't the time, he knew that he had to take the chance.

Ilanah had half a mind to protest, but she didn't have it in her to do so. The thought of how much trouble he could get into lingered in the back of her mind until the moment his lips met hers. Only then did she forget all about it...for the moment at least. For the duration of the kiss, she felt safe. It wasn't frantic or drug fueled passion, just tender and....

Ilanah blinked slowly as she pulled back only slightly. She had no words for the moment, just a million thoughts running through her mind. She drew a hand up and rested it on his chest, curling her fingers lightly into the fabric of his shirt. "Kal...." Ilanah barely breathed. "This can't....it can't happen." It was the truth, and they both knew it, but she still didn't pull further away from him.

As she pulled back just slightly, he opened his eyes, feeling her hand on his chest.  Her words were true, but he didn't want to listen.  He knew there would never be another moment like this.  There would never be another chance for them if they were to let this go.  He only had a few more days left before he would need to report back into the Temple.  He closed his eyes, attempting to clear his mind, but it was unsuccessful.  He shook his head at her statement, "I don't understand...why?  Why can't this happen?  We both want it to..."
