Background: Kerethon was born somewhere in Hutt Space to parents of unkown profession.. The details of their are not known. Kerethon's only known parent was rushed into a Corellian Med Center having sustained multiple vibroblade, energy weapon and blunt trauma injuries. Her identity was unknown as she wasn't discovered with paperwork, simply lying in a storm drain unconscious and left for dead during the evening. Despite medical treatment, her injuries proved too severe and she died during the night. Due to a lack of specialist medical knowledge and specialized medical equipment it was only after her death did they realize that the nine year old Huttlet was hidden within her pouch, detected by unexplained movements within the mother's body.
Kerethon was treated as he had suffered injuries and major trauma during the assault on his mother, due to having been doted on as a Huttlet he had rarely left the pouch since his birth and his memories could not be pieced together to find his true identity. The mother was not registered as having entered Corellian Space as her eye scan did not match that of any who had travelled through Corellian spaceports and had their scan taken on entry.
Initially, there was confusion as to what to do with the tiny Kerethon, and there were social service concerns with returning him to Hutt space, without a known family or clan he would have no carers and Hutt Space is not notoriously caring for orphaned individuals with no means. However, this all changed when a routine midi-chlorion test was run on Kerethon which showed one of the highest recorded in his species.
Kerethon was taken in by the unconventional Corellian Jedi Order and trained in the ways of the force. For forty three years he learned keenly as an Apprentice, being recognized as a diligent, hard working and honest pupil. He made friends easily but struggled to gain the strong bonds that other Corellian (majority human and related) Jedi had with each other. He instead thew himself into his training with great vigour, not naturally the most talented in some areas, but working harder and with more discipline than his peers.
During a visit to the Corellian Jedi Enclave, veteran female human Jedi Master named Breea (who had for a few years worked at the Almas Academy prior to this) took an interest in the keen Hutt apprentice and after spending several hours in conversation with the Green Jedi Council, Kerethon was transferred to the Almas Academy where he found the training style rather different. Here he trained happily under Master Breea, undertaking many missions with her during the period and helping prepare and research for each with thoroughness that was uncharacteristic of a Jedi who had been trained so unconventionally in the rebellious "devil may care" Corellian Style. During this time he was often found arriving early for lightsaber training, or sitting up all night studying tomes of all varieties of subject, being keenly interested in the world outside of the Jedi philosophy.
Master Breea opted to return to Coruscant after having served her 25 years at the Almas Academy, fully two decades of them with Kerethon as her Padawan. Curious about the world, Kerethon was intrigued by the idea of Coruscant and of seeing the Jedi Temple, and so requested to come with his mentor to Coruscant. All the transfers were made official and in his 73rd year he became part of the more Orthodox Branch of the Jedi Order and set off for Coruscant. The journey was smooth, flying aboard passenger ships on regular routes they made two changes on their journey, resulting in the time to travel from Almas to Coruscant to be in excess of a week. Master Breea explained that it was not necessary to rush everywhere and that as servants of the Republic it was not right to use expensive chartered craft unless time demanded it. During the journey, Breea became more philosophical and weighty with her conversation, giving her young (by Hutt Standards) Padawan a great deal more education in that week than she would give normally. Only in the last couple of days did Kerethon become suspicious and asked his Master if she was unwell. She replied that she was not, but she would die on the day they reached Coruscant. Distraught Kerethon asked if medical intervention were not possible, but she explained that she was of a great age for a human, over a hundred and twenty, and that she had seen the future through the force allowing her to know her time of death and prepare for it, it was a beautiful gift to end a life she said had always been full of wonder and happiness. The two talked for the remaining forty eight hours of the journey, and Kerethon demonstrated that despite reputation, Hutts could cry, fighting constantly to keep himself calm and serene while he was wracked internally with the fierce urge to express anger at the situation due to his fear of losing his mentor, he wanted to rail against it's unfairness, but he did not. In the last few hours they performed an extended Jedi Meld which neither of them realized they were initiating, sharing one consciousness he gained from her a perfect inner stillpoint of tranquility and compassion. During the meld he felt her slip away and her joy at freedom and becoming one with the force, a joy of release and of unburdening her spirit from her body. Looking down he suddenly realized his hand, tiny and held within his had disappeared, the Venerable Master Breea had become physically one with the force, leaving no remains. Minutes later he saw Coruscant appear on the view screens of the liner they had been travelling on. He travelled directly to the Temple, and was immediately disbelieved by the Gatekeepers. Innately distrusting Hutts they suspected misdeeds of some kind, that he had either left his Master to be killed or trapped somewhere, perhaps kidnapped or that he had run away with her baggage, which he carried slung across his back.
Kerethon suffered several minutes of hostile inquisition from the bad tempered and mildly xenophobic Jedi Guardian on duty, after the Temple Guards initially had insulted him, threatened to arrest him, made wild accusations and even threatening to send Kerethon without any of his possessions into the streets alone. Fortunately, after around half an hour's confusion among the Security, Jedi Knight Oppo Rancisis arrived during the incident and heard Kerethon's story, and asked if they'd even checked the baggage. Surely there was within a number of flimplasts where she wrote her regards to the Jedi most influential in her life and still alive. The Knight took Kerethon as his Padawan that night, after the Council had interviewed him, he had taken the Hutt as his apprentice not because he saw himself reflected in the Hutt, he was not hot blooded, devious and occasionally outwardly Rebellious he had been as a Padawan, but in this Hutt he saw a warm tranquility and that the Hutt had already, barely an adolescent by Hutt Standards, he conversed with the wisdom of many Masters of Lore and was self-deprecating with little pride. This was all the more remarkable for a Hutt to show such features and a lack of venal cunning, except it was noted, when required in competetive games and tests of skill where he often worked around the rules of games or used cunning to defeat an opponent in a contest of wits.
His Padawanship under Oppo Rancisis started when he was 73 in the year 145 BBY and was to last fifty two years, until at the age of 125. He became something of a perpetual Padawan, he loved to learn and always would seek out discussion and meditation, practice in skills or arts with others; Kerethon was extremely well liked by his superiors who as enthusiastic teachers revelled in having a pupil who wanted to learn from them, even on the most mundane of areas. Seeking the widest possible pool of knowledge and experience to work from. His wisdom was respected and he was the sole Padawan to address the Council in 132 BBY regarding the expulsion of the Potentium; he counseled caution and moderation, but too much ill feeling had formed against what was felt to have become a Cult within the Order and despite Kerethon and several other's call for reconciliation, there was no mutually acceptable compromise made, resulting in their excommunication, a failure he took personally, throwing himself further into the study of conflicts, their causes, motivations, participants and most importantly their resolutions.

It was twenty years in to this Padawanship, while his Master was suffering from a form of Brain Flu, he was seconded to the Jedi Diplomat that worked with the Chancellor as his special advisor and it did give him a slight pinch of pride that it was his draftsmanship that comprised the Treaty opening up the Outer Rim as a Free Trade zone. He felt a massive sense of achievement when it was ratified in 124 BBY and was proud to have been the anonymous writer of the document that would bring the Outer Rim's economy into the modern galaxy, changing trillions of lives for the better. He and his Master began going on more operations and missions with both Consular and Guardian based focuses, he adopted a personal affectation after realizing the ignition of a lightsaber meant a situation must by necessity get violent, Kerethon tried to avoid this by carrying a Force Imbued ultrachrome shield on many missionsthat he wore on his right arm (taking almost a year to perfect) this provided him with a way to shield his essential organs from blaster fire (since he was a bigger target than most beings) while his skin absorbed many of the bolts harmlessly. This principle was questioned at first, but it was seen that in tests, civilians reacted much more positively to the sight of a being holding a shield than a lightsaber, and would be on average 23% less likely to fire at one. This demonstration of skill and the creation of a half dozen other elegant and powerful force imbued items resulted in him being suggested to go for the trials again in 115 BBY. But he simply loved to learn and said he felt he had more to learn.
In 102 BBY his master allowed him again to take the driving seat of a field operation. Negotiating an agreement between tense politically opposed groups he found himself under fire several times but never once resorted to use of lethal force or activation of his lightsaber, except for use as a tool. He diffused the arguments over the Independence of a number of Colonies and persauded all parties to agree to the formation of a bipartisan outcome that gave colonies the right to ballot to remain as Colonies of another world or become part of the new Andoan Free Colonies affiliation of newly independent worlds, the agreement held and war was averted thanks to the work of Kerethon, who felt embarassed by the praise he recieved and still credits his Master with the feat. During several more years of travelling missons lasting up until 98 BBY he discovered a profound amount about the Force. His work into the nature of force imbued technology continued throughout this period as a task in his spare time. Upon his return to Coruscant he met a split Council, many human members wanted him to take the trials immediately while the more wise saw that Hutts matured slower, and at 120, this Hutt was equivalently mature to a human of around age 20.
The supporters of his research into Force Imbuing of items believed that the distraction of preparing for the trials would disrupt research that was so useful and if never finished would be a huge loss to Jedi Knowledge, and that his project demanded his constant attention (a fact he denied but not too fiercely for wishing to avoid seeming to boast). In the end he was waived from taking the Trials for a six year period which would expire in 92 BBY. He spent four years almost solidly on the project before a humanitarian crisis came up on Telos IV that the Jedi Knight sent to alleviate was overwhelmed by, always happy to help a man he had studied with in the Human's padawan days.
Padawan Kerethon did not advertise to the Council either that he had skipped several months working on the project to help organize logistics as part of a Service Corps Relief Effort for the 94 BBY Telos IV famine. He found this moonlighting awkwardly exposed when he was granted the "Good Neighbour of the Year Award" by the Coruscant Benevolent Society for his famine relief plans. And he actually felt the morale boost of having produced a relief logistics scheme so efficient it was thought to have prevented 100,000,000 deaths compared to any other proposal.
The driven Kerethon was given a six year waiver from taking the Trials but managed to complete his research in five and took the Trials the day after submitting his thesis for review, he hadn't needed preparation time, constant training was his method, because inside he knew and accepted it was not just the Trials that were tests in life, but rather everything tested you, so his belief is that you must be ready at all times as if being ready for a formal exam.
His usually stern Master greeted him after the news he had passed the trials, and whom had been so instrumental in allowing him to delay the Trials until he felt he was ready to be the Jedi Knight Paragon he had always aspired to be. His Oppo made a rare joke before they parted that day "If you put the commitment into being a Jedi Knight you put into your Padawan Learnership, we'll have to find a distraction for you or you could become the next Lord Hoth.
The next day he signed up to a half year secondment as a Consular, to confirm it was the career for him, and to explore the sub-careers within the path. For indeed his skills would allow him into any area of the Order's specialities save those his species shape or size precluded him from... But he felt the Stillpoint within that Breeya had left him with and heard her voice the night before he made the decision. The words she imparted remain a deep secret, but he has decided, at least for the time being, to join the Consulars.
