Personality: Constantly seeks to maintain peak physical and mental conditioning, he often ensures of no wasted movements or pointless activity. He had always desired to have a happy, normal life with a family, however his duty has constantly brought him into conflict with that goal. He is an expert at interrogation and persuasion; generally leaving no means off the table to complete any mission given to him. He does not like killing, but will not hesitate in killing any target or enemy. He is generally known at this point in his life to have a pessimistic outlook upon the galaxy and life in general, and while spending his entire life protecting the people of the galaxy, to him he feels more indebted to than anything, he finds himself questioning if he was protecting them from the wrong enemy. He is a heavy smoker and drinker, and enjoys very simple food; finding extravagant dishes unnecessary excess, but he does still enjoy such dishes when prepared by someone not of himself.
Background: Born on Coruscant to an aristocratic family, but raised on M'haeli in a working class home, Varik Hawke is a product of the best and worst of the galaxy. He lived on Coruscant with his parents until the age of twelve; enjoying an envious life of the best schools in the Galactic City, and two loving and involved parents. Tragedy struck however, as his father was assassinated by an aircar-bomb, his mother being taken with him. He was then raised on M'haeli by his uncle, but not being of the world, was seemingly no better than alien natives.
Despite this, his uncle was able to buy his place into the best schools in N'croth. Once able, however, he decided to leave M'haeli and applied to the Raithal Academy, where he was accepted. He flourishes under the new environment, and graduates valedictorian of his class with high marks in his unarmed combat and marksmanship abilities. He is given a posting in the Special Tactics Troopers as an Ensign, quickly gaining a promotion to Lieutenant due to his impressive abilities. He was found to also have impressive leadership abilities, just as able in operating alone as he was leading a squad.
After five years of service, he was promoted to Commander. He promptly took leadership of a team of Special Tactics Troopers, assigned to the Special Task Force. He spent three years in the position before being transitioned into an analyst role with Republic Intelligence, serving as well as the Judicial Forces liason to the service. It was while in this role, he was recruited into the Senate Bureau of Intelligence. Approached due to his natural abilities, he was at first posted within Operations, but was shifted to Special Intelligence three years later, after finding and killing a group of assassins attempting to kill the Supreme Chancellor of the time. For ten years, he has remained with Special Intelligence, becoming their primary operative. By now a living legend within the SBI, he faces a great personal crisis; while approaching the mandatory retirement age from Special Intelligence, whether to live up to the legend, or come to terms with the reality of what he has seen and done.
