It is with some trepidation and more than a small amount of shame that I come before you today.
I will admit that I have not served Lorrd as well as I should have in the past, and I have made several erroneous statements. To wit:

When I made this statement, I was attempting to act in Lorrd's best interests, to gain the trust of a being whom the Ruling Houses did not endorse, nor approve of. Lorrd does not accept or tolerate slavery, and my statements to him, which may have led some of those here in this chamber to believe the Ruling Houses support Bane Hax and slavery. I am here to tell you, gentlebeings, that this is not so. My words came from hubris, where I believed I could save Lorrd in a dark time.
I announce today that I am standing down as Senator of Lorrd. An election was held not long ago, and I am pleased to announce the new Senator of Lorrd, Senator Demaron Torres. Gentlebeings, it has been an honor to work alongside you.

I trust that my election will be seamless and that I will be able to represent Lorrd and its interests to the best of my ability, without issue. I intend to see that none of the issues as which occurred under the previous senatorial appointment happen again while under my watch.

| Mr. Lekpin, it saddens me to hear that you have decided to retire. I wish that it wasn't true, but I can hope that your replacement will be what he says he is.
Mr. Torres, What is the first thing you intend on doing differently than Mr. Lekpin in your tenure here?

| An excellent question, Senator Ciaran. First, let me say that I won't be dealing with any known slavers, and I certainly won't be quoting the Ruling Houses on any stances they don't officially adopt. However, I am here to represent Lorrd, that is to say, the people and the rulers, though I have every trust and confidence that the Ruling Houses bear the best in mind for the people.
Rather than be overly concerned about, say, galactic politics in the Core, I intend to strengthen local policies and alliances, ensuring that Lorrd does not alienate itself from possible allies.

| Senator, you predecessor recently had a rather unpleasant exchange with the Government of the Ciutric Hegemony as one which you can do business with? For regional stability Lorrd's Dominions and the Hegemony are certainly the regional economic powers, do you think a "reset button" can be pushed on relations between the two?

| Running a small local route to connect the Kanz Sector (certainly Kol Huro) to the Axxila-Tangrene hyperlane would allow a much wider dissemination of products and an alternative shipping route to that used traditionally. Perhaps this would be a good chance for the Hegemony and Lorrd to work together to build a better local transport network and mutually secure their economic future.

| A valid question, Senator Cynum, and while there is a belief that trade routes could eventually be opened up with the Ciutric Hegemony, that area of thought is opposed by a majority of Lorrd's leadership. Nonetheless, I cannot speak for sure what will happen in the future.

| Would you support a Sector unification? The people of Jerne would see a Sector Assembly based at the ancient Sector Capital of Argazda, with a single Kanz Sector Delegate sitting, elected by the people of the Sector as a whole. Would you favour such a move? I understand support is high for the idea and it would give your say more weight in the Chamber, in my opinion anyway.

| That's actually a rather controversial issue, Senator Ordan, and not one considered lightly. You would have to address such an issue to Prime Minister S'nar before simply nominating Argazda in such a fashion. However, what I can say with some certainty, is that several governing bodies, the Directorate of Amaltanna, Governor Small of Ereesus, certain elements of the Lorrdian government, do not see Jerne as much as a part of the Kanz Sector rather than an Alderaanian protectorate. Whether or not this is true is none of my explicit concern, I might add.
However, to the larger picture, the thought of sector unification is not something widely looked at as an idea people wish to embrace.

| Total unification I would not really see as healthy. Just an Administrative Assembly and single representative. I urge you to make it your mission. Worlds sovereignty and individual government I'd like to see maintained but the Sector would do well with joint Representation and Sector administration over non planetary matters. Thus certain Republic Admin powers may well be conceded. Added (21 May 14, 2:41 AM)
