The Jedi chapter house on Clak'dor VII was distinctive even from space. The homeworld of the Bith species had been ravaged in a biological war, and since then, the chapter house was as-yet the only place on the planet that agriculture had taken hold, using a combination of Jedi and Ithorian techniques to bring life back to the dead landscape. The Jedi hoped that one day, the Bith could emerge from the refuge of their domed cities, that Clak'dor VII could become a prosperous world once more and re-join the galactic community. It was a nice dream, but for most of the planet it was only a dream. From space, the acres of farms surrounding the chapter house were but a tiny, green oasis amid the purple wastes of the planet's surface. It was a symbol of hope, from a certain point of view—and a symbol of hopelessness from another.

Jace took the former view; it was enough for him that Juliede believed in this project, and had come here to Clak'dor VII to help Jedi younglings teach the new agricultural techniques to Bith children. Jace had understood and, in fact, admired her reasons for leaving Coruscant, but he'd missed her from the first day she'd gone. And he missed her all the more now that Master Nataya was gone too. Jace knew he needed to see Jules. It was half the reason he'd asked Master Tching for a leave of absence. But in all the hours he'd spent alone with his thoughts on his way to Clak'dor VII, he hadn't thought of what to say to her when he got there. Even now, as his Jedi starfighter (one of Tching's new "Whitecloaks," a specially-modified version of the popular Cloakshape fighter) soared over the plains and farms surrounding the chapter house, he couldn't decide whether or not to tell Jules how he felt about her—how he'd always felt about her.

Jace noticed Bith children and other younglings waving up at his fighter, but he was too preoccupied to wave back. He broadcast his identification and landing clearance to the chapter house, then set the Whitecloak down gently on a landing pad outside the main building. He popped his canopy open and breathed in the fresh air of Clak'dor VII—"fresh" compared to the confines of a Jedi starfighter, at least. To say nothing of the processed air of Coruscant that Jace was accustomed to. There was a sense of peace here that he found himself jealous of. Life was simple for these Jedi, but Jace's life was anything but.

There was something to be said about the virtual solitude on Clak'dor VII.  It had been good, no, more than good for Juliede to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city-planet, Coruscant.  It was not her style, anyway, that fast-paced life.  Even in the Jedi Temple it seemed busy to her, and everyone was in a hurry.  So the assignment to Clak'dor VII, which Jules had volunteered for, was a more than welcome change of pace.

The lifestyle on Coruscant aside, Juliede had never truly felt that she fit in at the Temple, or anywhere really.  It wasn't that she cared if she was accepted or not, but some comments and looks grew taxing after a period of time, despite her advancement and subsequent Knighthood.  There were few, Jace Varitek being one of them, that never judged on outward appearance, and that was the kind of person Jules actually enjoyed spending her time with.

The Bith children were like that; they never judged and had not once made her feel like an outsider despite their difference in species.  They learned, from both her and the various Younglings that resided at the chapter house.  Aside from agriculture, she had let them help create a meditation garden (as opposed to the simulated "garden" that was projected into an inside meditation room), because Juliede also felt that things could be beautiful as well as practical.  Besides, the same concepts applied to agriculture as it did to flowers and fruit trees.

While in the greenhouse that afternoon, Jules had noticed that a whitecloak fighter soared over the chapter house and then landed, but she barely paid it any mind.  She hadn't known Varitek was coming, and even if she had, the lesson she was teaching needed to be finished.  It was only ten minutes more before she dismissed her students and went about cleaning up some.
