As the Mandalorians approached Uriek they would be presented with a stark view of that bleak world, blasted thousands of years ago and would perhaps remind them of the destruction wrought upon whole areas of their own worlds by the Republic and Jedi not so long in the past. They would detect no worlds in orbit and down on the planet a simple beacon indicating the agreed meeting place.

Earlier Praetor Oriel sat behind the two pilots aboard his personal legion's Kappa-class Shuttle. The atmosphere gave them a little buffering as the ship skimmed in to land at the pre-agreed landing place. They had landed the shuttle at he head of a valley, with few enough of the Sun Guard aboard, those who did remained in their seats, took sentry duty or patrolled around the hills of rock and ash, securing the area around them from vantage points.

The Mandalorians would have a bleak view of the area as they came in to land on the rocky terrain. Their entry would be easy as the environmental conditions were not undesirable. Their cockpit view on approach would be below, and their sensors would give a scan of the surrounding area. Black representing raised jagged rocks of various sizes, white representing flatter black sand.

Oriel was one of the two Sun Guards out in the open as dusk set in, a companion nearby as they tracked the inbound Mandalorian lander on their Helmet macrobinoculars. "Here come our guests, Praetor", Oriel noted no fellow guardsmen around and so allowed this informality from his veteran Stellar Tribune "It is indeed, Tribune, it is indeed." He didn't need to ask the Tribune if his legion were ready for duplicity, they expected it.

As the AIAT/i Gunship moved along, an uneasiness settled within. The Mandalorians and Sun Guards had been rivals for a long time; the Mandalorians having seen no distinction between the Sun Guard or the Echani, except the Sun Guard actively competed with them for jobs over the past few centuries. Mandalore personally piloted his craft, and to his side was his faithful General, Cruor Vizsla, in the co-pilot's seat. "Mandalore, I do not believe we should be here...," he said, breaking the silence htat had pervaded the craft since they dropped out of hyperspace.

After a moment, he responded. "Cruor, I don't like it either, but the reality is that we need allies to take on these Kalevalans. The Republic is not distracted enough for us to take the fight to them by ourselves, so we must resort to means that we would otherwise never consider," he said as they hit the atmosphere. Silence was the response, a unspoken recognition that Mandalore had spoken, and so it would be.

After spending some time flying low and fast through the cliffs, to lose any possible tail, they came out, flying over the parked Kappa Shuttle and landing at the beacon. "Snipers are in the hills," noted Cruor. If this wasn't an ambush, it sure felt like it. To be safe, they approached it as a possible ambush, and came in force. The gunship was carrying a full load of Mandalorian warriors. Twenty of the warriors were equipped with jetpacks and immediately took flight upon disembarking; breaking up into five teams of four, two of which took on an aerial patrol pattern and the other two would take triangular positions around the meeting area from 500 meters out. Twenty of the warriors were Commandos, and took off into the surrounding area, again in teams of four, to seek out and get the locations of each Sun Guard in the hills. The final group were nine Supercommandos, who would guard the ship, and a singular warrior who would accompany the other two warriors guarding the Mand'alor and the Akaan'alor, moved in a group to the meeting spot.

Eventually, the five Mandalorians would be before the two Sun Guards. Their contact with the Sun Guard, Dragh Kalix, would join them as well, to make it six Mandalorians. None of them took off their helmets. They would remain still and silent, awaiting for the Sun Guard to speak, when Kalix broke the silence. "Praetor Tyrion Oriel, I present to you, Mandalore,".

There had been much combat and bad blood between the two groups over the centuries, something Oriel had no time for. His policy was one of recognizing fellow warriors and working alongside them where possible. His people would quietly track the Mandalorians as they made their movements but would make no aggressive moves. It would be visible if the Mandalorians viewed the overlooking Sun Guards, they just watched with Macrobinoculars, their weapons slung or resting next to them, hardly snipers ready for a quick ambush. They simply were insurance against a trap.

The Stellar Tribune with Oriel stepped forward to introduce his praetor who stood next to him, Oriel putting out a hand to stop him advancing "This is Stellar Tribune Per'Sa of my Cohort, 3rd Sun Guard Regiment." he said reversing tradition by introducing his subordinate first. "I am Praetor Oriel, Commanding Officer of the Eighth Cohort, 3rd Sun Guard Regiment."

Tribune Per'sa took a step back, keeping both hands on the Brutal looking disruptor he carried. Mandalorian armour was notoriously tough but, he would bet, not up to the task of being vaporized by a full power discharge of a disruptor. Oriel carried only a pistol at his side in terms of ranged weapons but pulled a Phrik electroblade out of its holster, leaving the electro-chargers off and brought it up to the salute, then dropped it down to the side before sheathing it.

"I greet you as the Master of your people, Mandalore, I am a soldier and leader of soldiers, but the leader of a people is a man worthy of salute by one such as I. I trust your journey was not unpleasant." he gestured around the ashy black sand and jagged rock
