Dear Karth,

I hope that this letter finds you well and safe.  I have not heard word of you in some time and that has been concerning me.  I try not to think about it, but I have gotten to the point where I need to know that you are safe, at least.  We've been friends for so long...

I am here aboard the Luminosity, and have been for the past six months.  The Padawans have been learning from Master Tching and Captain Towani, the Ithorian, has been a good Captain.  I admit that I have been trying to keep busy and help with the Padawans and Younglings, but I find myself too disconnected and would not want that to offend their senses while they are trying so hard to learn here.

Master Tching is taking a small handful of Jedi to Dantooine to help with their crops; apparently a drought has all but wiped them out.  I have a black thumb, you know that, but I have been thinking of joining them if for nothing more than to go planet side for a little while.  I might be of some help in some way.  Perhaps it would be better if I stayed here.  I wish you were here, though.

There are days where I find myself unable to get away from my thoughts, and even meditation does not help, nor does it come easily.  I know that I shouldn't be like this, I know it, but I cannot help it.

Anyway, my petty emotions aside, please let me know that you are safe.  I hope that you return soon.

Dani

Her response came in the form of a holo-recording, sent directly to her personal terminal. When Daneira opened the message, Karth's lanky form would spring to life before her, a near-perfect construct of blue light replicating his every detail. The first thing to greet her would be his smile—lopsided and bright as ever—soon to be followed by an awkward clearing of his throat as he idly tinkered with something off-screen. She wouldn't be able to make out much aside from the fact that he appeared situated in a rather-snug cockpit, most likely his starfighter.

"This thing on, Kima?" Karth asked, and from his left a chorus of beeps and whistles sounded. The boy nodded, turning his attention directly ahead, still smiling like an idiot.

"Hi, Dani. It's Karth.. but I figure you can tell that. I haven't shaved-" he scratches idly at the out-of-place and scraggly black beard along his chin. "-In a while, so I realize I look like a Tusken after he's been trampled by his own bantha. I've been on assignment the last few months, took an incredibly long and arduous process to get in with this big slave trading ring out near Ryloth. I blew it wide open, though, thought you'd like to hear. Check the holonet next time you get some free time. It doesn't name me directly, but it mentions some dilligent undercover work."

Karth paused a moment, gathering his thoughts. "I gotta say, the thought of you teaching made me laugh when I first heard it. Not that you can't, or won't, just I never figured you the type to have patience with children. Well, I never figured you the type to have patience," he teased with a light chuckle, folding his arms in his robes.

"I was on my way to the Luminosity, actually, Council's seen fit to reassign me. I would've sent you a heads up sooner but I was detoured to Anx Minor for some data retrieval or somesuch. After that, though, I'll be heading back."

For a moment he sobered, humorous overtones fading in favor of genuine concern. "I've been thinking, a lot, about Bellassa. And I've missed you, missed having someone that knows what we went through. I can't wait to see you, and by the time you get this I should be relatively close." He sighed, the holo-recording flickering a moment before his blue eyes centered back on the camera. "I'll see you soon, okay? Don't go anywhere. See you soon, Dani."

The recording cut off, Karth's form flickering into nonexistence.
