Farmers Urge Ray to Request Jedi Assistance
Garang, Dantooine — Representatives of the Dantooine Farmer's League and the Nerfmen's and Ranchers' Association have delivered a letter to Exar Ray's residence asking the Administrator to request drought relief from the Jedi ship Luminosity, currently in Anx Space on a tour of the Raioballo Sector. Dantooine's Khoonda province is in its fourth month of unseasonably dry weather, posing a serious danger to farms in the region.
The Farmer's League and the Nerfmen's and Ranchers' Association, representing over a thousand farmers and ranchers on Dantooine, said in the letter to Mr. Ray that the reputed ability of the Jedi to induce plant growth would be helpful for Dantooine's drought-ravaged farms and the planet's economy; foodstuffs are Dantooine's largest export by far. The Jedi Agricultural Corps, or 'AgriCorps,' is renowned for assisting Outer Rim agricultural worlds in natural disasters, such as droughts. Vincent Le Grange, a spokesman for the farmers and ranchers, told the Farm Bulletin that Dantooine qualifies for Jedi assistance.
"When a man's done all he can, there ain't no shame in asking for help," Mr. Grange said, "We might not hold to Jedi beliefs in these parts, but we could sure use their help."
The Luminosity, a Jedi 'praxeum ship,' is in nearby Anx Space on a tour of the Outer Rim. Praxeum ships function as mobile Jedi Temples complete with libraries and medical facilities, conveying hundreds of Jedi to galactic hot spots. It isn't clear, however, whether the Luminosity has a chapter of the Coruscant-based AgriCorps aboard. For now, farmers on Dantooine will hold their breath, waiting for Administrator Ray's decision as crops in the Khoonda province continue to dry up.
