Now, Jace has the final say on whether or not Grizmallt even has a fleet. I'm still largely in favor of them not having one; I'm still highly in favor of Jace's suggestion and I'm leaning far more than way. However, if I were to approve a fleet, it would be much more in line with what I originally proposed.

1x Indomitable-class dreadnaught heavy cruiser (on hold pending a finishing of the request)
1x Tranquility-class heavy cruiser (approve)
3x Bireme-class corvettes (approve)
3x CR90 corvettes (approve) - You can drop these if you like
6x12x IPV-1 patrol craft (approve) - You can have more of these if you like

I'm going to deny:

4x Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser (the standard upgraded configuration) - There just isn't any plausible reason for this. As per the fleets and forces list (which does need a bit of updating), you control almost half the fleets in the RP.

Until Grizmallt becomes more active somehow, I'm not willing to approve more, and that's even if Grizmallt ends up with fleets.

What if the Dreadnaughts are equipped with only a locally useful hyperdrive? Say a class 10 in case of emergencies, but as standard it's not used?

I just fancy having some ponderous old system defense ships as Grizmallt. Happy to have the unupgraded configuration if need be. They would work well with 12 IPV-1s, 4 to each Dreadnaught and being used to patrol the system.

The Indomitable-class would operate with one of these patrol groups as an escort. It's hyperdrive downgraded to class 10 alongside the potential dreads, it'd be a fleet which cannot attack anyone and would take a couple of weeks to reach even Coruscant. The Tranquility with it's bireme escorts would act as the main "projection" to be used as an oversized "diplomatic ship" (the proverbial "big stick")

It would hardly make Grizmallt unassailable, as each of the four Dreadnaught groups has such a slow flagship they'd be easily avoided (meaning reliance on IPV-1s).. With no ability to attack or invade, it's just strongly defended. The Tranquility and three Biremes hardly represents a significant assault force but might be used to contribute to joint operations with the Judicials, help patrol the Core etc.

How does this sound? Dreadnaughts dropped...

1x Indomitable-class dreadnaught heavy cruiser - Class 6 Hyperdrive
1x Tranquility-class heavy cruiser
3x 2x Bireme-class corvettes
24x IPV-1 patrol craft

I don't think Ordan should have any role RPing Grizmallt's fleet under any circumstance. Alderaan is his faction (along with its several colonies). I don't approve of any role for Grizmallt in the RP beyond references to it providing moral support for Ordan, or as a base for Alderaan's ships or a market for its goods, etc. Brentaal was closely-aligned with the Givin Domain in AGW, as I mentioned. But there was no need for a Givin fleet, just as there's no need for a Grizmallt fleet. Whether it be fleets or factions, we seem to be getting really, very far from the idea of simply requesting something and then RPing with it. Not to use Brentaal again as an example, but when I RP'd as Cambrist I made an entire Wiki about the planet and its government and society. Granted, that was insane—I don't expect that level of detail from anyone else. But Alderaanian society has been almost completely unmentioned and unexplored in the RP, yet our attention is already drifting away to Grizmallt. I don't support this; not at this time, certainly.

All of this...

Quote Crown_Prince_Ordan ()
They may be. They're after all connected by a personal union. But as detailed foreign deployments are unpopular. The smaller ships might well share ports etc though if Grizmallt had ships out on the rim. As for operations together, only against someone who was perceived as a big threat to either world or the Republic (which would mean there might well be other worlds, Judicial forces, Jedi etc fighting), demanding immediate action. Obviously the flagship cant leave the region though.

... I really want to avoid. No big list of conditions and caveats. Just no, I'm afraid.

Jace has made a valid point, here. I've also been leaning this way on Grizmallt (and the Hegemony by extension) for some time. Granted, I'm more of a 'will approve' type of guy in most situations; hell, I'd even be willing to throw Grizmallt a non-upgraded Dreadnaught-class for posterity, providing it never left Grizmallt space. However, I'd like to hear your rebuttal, Jamie.

So a non hyperspace mobile indomitable and the ipv-1s?

I'd like to add a hegemony fleet would rather be there for the purposes of plot (being negotiated away and I'm happy not to RP them) and also whereas this was intended for more practical purposes but is now simply a defense force in the event Grizmallt is attacked?

Re the Hegemony

Kadram does rule Rothana on paper but this rulership is really just that, his actual influence comes from his shareholding and involvement in the TU and especially KDY's politics. However, this would allow him a limited ability to conduct non-TU linked foreign affairs or at least attempt to do so. Rothana he can't use politically due to it being de-facto under KDY rule, but the Hegemony allows for him to have a little more ability to conduct independent politics and move away from simply being a TU lackey to develop his own Hegemonic state in the region with its own agenda, thanks to his marriage.

So as I see it

- Ordan has a big powerful world he has complete control of with a fleet, Grizmallt is a bauble (albeit one meriting defense) which I don't intend to use (I did have a minor plotline involving the Grizmallt succession planned with Esseles which required a fleet but with the winding down of big plots involving that world, the Grizmallt fleet can be likewise wound down to a defensive vestige)

- Kadram has a world which isnt powerful he has little control of and is largely little more than a figurehead to the RHE/KDY monopoly over his domain, which yes he controls a share in but which he is not master over. Equally, he controls some power through the TU but has no form of sovereign authority. A bit like Leopold II of Belgium wanted an Empire and took the Congo over to give himself personal sovereignty over somewhere, this is the objective of Kadram's marriage, to give him political power he has always lacked allowing him to, for example, have ships under his command, or potentially have a Senator at his beck and call in the future.. those things which Kadram lacks but wants.

As you can see different situations; one would be giving a powerful world more power if it had a deployable fleet, one would be giving a puppet king a proper kingdom..

The Hegemony having a fleet (in fact I wish it to have the anti pirate fleet (canon) and its own fleet separate) I want to use as part of an actual plot regarding disarmament across the region and involving resolving regional tensions. I.e. To be there to be negotiated away, mostly. And also to have the Axilla anti-pirate fleet become prominent in the region using the latest TU craft and so increasing the prestige of the TU without being an offensive force, it'd be separately administered from the Houses of the area by being run by a Committee of it's Senior Officers (with rank above Captain being on a seniority basis within the fleet) as a force to defend the Hegemony and Axilla but without the corruption and mismanagement that (I imagine) plague the fleet proper. Also being in a combat prone region, the Hegemony's planets local defense forces requested are just a prudent step to stop them getting wiped out by any small time pirate before help can arrive and are clearly defensive.

If, and I imply that if meaning, 'If Jace agrees to it,' I would be willing to approve the following for Grizmallt:

1x Invincible-class dreadnaught heavy cruiser (does not leave the Grizmallt System and is considered a permanent fixture for defense)

12x IPV-1s (can be fitted with hyperdrive sleds if need be for 'force projection')

However, these ships are not part of Alderaan's fleet and as such, I don't expect to see them used in conjunction.

Id prefer 24 with no sleds (since the sled is more expensive than the ship itself in most cases) frankly...

Not having sleds means they'd be stuck at Grizmallt as well. No coming along with an extra ship to tote them around, mind you. I'm just offering the option of sleds in the event you wished to project force somewhere as Grizmallt. However, I'm leaving the final call on this to Jace. He did say he'd be around tomorrow after work.

Yep. Stuck at Grizmallt is the point. And there's no Alderaanian ally to carry them and no reason theyd leave the Motherworld Abandoned anyway. Its just a defense in case Alderaan has a war and Grizmallt's logistical support causes them to become a target and so need basic defenses.

Never for heading out system. Just 24 IPV-1, 1 Indomitable.

Sorry about the delay. It's a bit early to say this, but I think my mental fog may finally be burning off. So I'll commit to post on this request today. Let's see if I do...

For now, Jaron and I are going to get some coffee. Back in a bit.
