Good Evening Senator,

I'm Senator Cynum of the Trade Federation, I was wondering what is it that you would want in a Chancellorial candidate? We're keen to get a range of opinions from different Senators, yourself, of course, representing a Core World of unparalleled culture, sophistication and beauty (indeed, isn't the Senate's own Rotunda reputedly based upon your stunning Chandrila Rotunda).

So, we want to back a candidate which is good for everyone, because the Trade Federation wishes to place itself in the middle of opinion and really represent the views of the Republic at large.

Are there any characteristics, policies etc you'd like to see or particularly not like to see?

Sincerely,

Senator Prentiss Cynum

Senator Cynum,

I have to ask, do you have a candidate in mind?  Like most senators, I would hope, I particularly look for someone in the Chancellors seat who is fair and kind, but firm, of course.  He or She must have the best interests of the people at heart, and not the best interests of their own pocketbooks.  I do hate to sound harsh, and I know that it is truly difficult to find someone completely incorruptible, but that would be my end goal.

While I understand that you say that you are simply 'fact finding', as it were, I can tell you with complete honesty that I would not vote for someone from the Trade Federation itself, if one were to run for the seat.  Please do not be offended, it is simply my humble and personal opinion.

Sincerely,
Aine Ciaran
Senator of Chandrila

Sorry if there is any confusion, but just to inform you...

The Trade Federation, ma'am. Does not run in election as it would be inappropriate, we try to remain a neutral force in the Senate and largely confine ourselves to Trade matters. We are merely curious as to whom you'll be casting your vote for since we respect the views of such an old established world.

The likely candidates we suspect will run are:

Crown Prince Ordan of Alderaan, representing the Core faction human section, especially the Core founders. He's planning to run on a platform of a Core-focused policy for the Republic. Might form a pact with the Rim-faction radicals under Governor Tarkin in order to curry their votes if he runs.

Senator Kongming, Core faction non-human de-facto leader. Very closely associated with the current rather stigmatized Pryce regime.

Senator Kruus, Humbarine Sector Senator but not considered affiliated with either Core or Rim, running on a platform of 'The vision is one of Galactic renewal, a Republic with drive, purpose and energy' - Essentially running with the objective of reversing the rot and corruption in the Republic and restoring the core values and institutions to their former position etc. Essentially he is trying to have bipartisan appeal by appealing for "one Republic" with no factions.

Possibly Governor Tarkin of Eriadu, Rim Faction war-hawk. Likely to run on some ridiculous platform to declare war on the Hutts or similar.

Oh, Senator Cynum,

There was no confusion what so ever.  I was subtly attempting to make it clear how I feel about some involved with the Trade Federation.  Yourself not included, sir.  I do thank you for the list of the possible candidates that you have provided me with.  I will be sure and look it over and take everything into consideration.

As of right now, however, I am not sure who I would cast a vote for.

Sincerely,
Aine Ciaran
Senator of Chandrilla

I think I confused the issue by suggesting possible contenders. I just wanted to ask what does Chandrila care about most? Law and order? Economics? Development? Election aside, these are questions it would be useful to know he answer to so we can lend aid if we can in any way.

What does Chandrila care about most?  I think you did confuse the matter, Senator Cynum, by asking what I looked for in a candidate first.  No matter.

I would say that education, environmentalism and agriculture are the most important to Chandrilians.  In fact, I have been working on a proposal to the senate in regards to all three of those things.
