| Representative Vanden,
I've overheard many things about Mandalorians over the years; little of it good, I'm afraid, but in context with your New Mandalorians, willing to accept a more diplomatic approach, I've heard nothing but good. It is due to that sense that I am sending you this message.
Druckenwell is looking to expand its trade partners, especially outside of the Core Worlds. Our shipyard facilities are top-notch, and our weapons plants, BlasTech and Druckenwell Arms, have received good reviews for the past several years. As such, I am interested to know if you'd be willing to consider future trade agreements with us.
Regards,
Lomen Ryuun Senator, Druckenwell (103 BBY - 93 BBY) Minister of Economics

| Senator Ryuun,
Mandalore would be very interested in a trade arrangement with Druckenwell. I see your world is a major importer of foodstuffs. It so happens that the primary export from New Mandalorian Space―which includes quite a few agriworlds―is foodstuffs. Clearly, a trade arrangement would be mutually beneficial. Druckenwell, I see, is an exporter of weapons and high technology items. However, we New Mandalorians―especially Kalevalans―are technological innovators in our own right, and I'm afraid we don't have much use for weapons. Let us focus, then, on foodstuffs.
I would be prepared to offer your world substantial discounts on bulk purchases of foodstuffs in exchange for an equally-substantial reduction (or preferably a waiver) of any tariffs Druckenwell may have on the importation of such goods. Again, such an arrangement would be mutually beneficial―we can sell our goods to the people of Druckenwell at a reduced cost that would result in a reduction of food prices on your world with little or no impact on profit margins for your food merchants. Your people thus are happy, your merchants are happy, and so are New Mandalorian farmers.
However, I must know to what extent a trade agreement with Druckenwell is a trade agreement with the Trade Federation. Your world is a member of the Trade Federation, is it not? Without casting aspersions on the Federation or its business practices, I can only say that it is one of the major reasons for the neutrality of New Mandalorian Space. We have no interest in entering into any agreements with the Trade Federation. As far as a contract for the shipping of foodstuffs is concerned, the Baobab Merchant Fleet would be vastly preferable to us.
Sincerely,
Artemis Vanden Ambassador of Mandalorian Space Duke of Kalevala, New Mandalore, and the New Mandalorian Territories Duly-appointed Mand'alor ("leader") of the Mandalorian People

| Representative Vanden,
Druckenwell would gladly open the doors of shipping food goods with the people of New Mandalorian Space. I don't see a waiver of tariffs being an issue either; no doubt efficiency and lower costs will allow for a better profit margin on either side and an increase in business. In regards to exporting Druckenwell's business, and with all due respect to the Kalevalan arms manufacturers and shipwrights, you may be able to subcontract through Druckenwell Shipyards to produce certain items for you at a much cheaper cost. Being 'outside' the Republic so to speak likely tends to drive up some prices for you. Operating within the Republic, and as part of the Trade Federation, Druckenwell has the ability to procure certain things at a cheaper rate.
In regards to an agreement between us, any dealing we make is strictly between Druckenwell and the New Mandalorians. We are a part of the Trade Federation, but that does not mean we kowtow to them out of hand. Rather, we co-exist, at least as best we can. In regards to the Baobab Merchant Fleet, I see no issue with this, either.
Regards,
Lomen Ryuun Senator, Druckenwell (103 BBY - 93 BBY) Minister of Economics

| Senator Ryuun,
You are a principled man, Lomen (if I may so address you). Let's make this happen―I can have a trade delegation dispatched to Druckenwell tomorrow with a rough draft on a foodstuffs deal. And I've spoken to Havicl Baobab and he's confirmed that the Baobab Merchant Fleet is capable of handling bulk shipments to the Doldur Sector.
With regard to access to Druckenwellian arms manufacturers and the Druckenwell Shipyards, I appreciate the offer but this could be considerably more complicated. We have no army and don't have much use for arms, and while we do maintain a fleet for self-defense, I'm afraid we're locked into purchasing from MandalMotors. This isn't the most afforable or even desirable option for us, but MandalMotors sells both to us and to the rebel "True Mandalorians" on my world. There isn't much I can do about this except to be a better MandalMotors customer than the rebels are, and contracting with the Druckenwell Shipyard as you propose could move MandalMotors closer to the rebels. So you see my dilemma.
Sincerely,
Artemis Vanden Ambassador of Mandalorian Space Duke of Kalevala, New Mandalore, and the New Mandalorian Territories Duly-appointed Mand'alor ("leader") of the Mandalorian People

| Representative Vanden,
I see your dilemma quite clearly, Artemis; if I may address you by your given name, as you may use mine. Mandalorian Space is dealing with its own issues, just as we in the Republic are dealing with ours. I do look forward to meeting with your delegates; I'm sure the contract will be quite fine indeed. As much as it is a shame for me to concede that I will be unable to sell you weapons or ships, I will have to simply find something else Druckenwell exports that may catch your interests, or your ability to purchase.
In the meantime, rest assured that I will contact you once I've looked over our deal.
Regards,
Lomen Ryuun Senator, Druckenwell (103 BBY - 93 BBY) Minister of Economics
