"Lord Stark. How the devil are you? It's been splendid to read of your meteoric rise. I wonder when, the laws of physics being as they are, you will come crashing like a Meteor back to ground, or perhaps burn up in a star." he looked away from the screen for a moment and actually chuckled through his helmet. There was a noise like a bag of intestines hitting the floor, although it's quite possible the simile wasn't necessary given the context. "Squire, Fetch me another plaything. This one seems to have broken"

He turned back from the distraction. "We learnt long ago that the inscrutable universe turns upon an axis of suffering, because pain is inevitable. I commend Mr Kruus on his production of an antidote to the little prank on Lorrd. I'm glad everyone isn't going to die a painful but quick death. Suprised, Lord Stark? You really ought to study the minds of the Masters of Torment in history. I like to bring death because it is the eternal constant but I love pain. Those who survived will suffer the pain of loss. The unending and never healing psychological pain of the fear the attack caused. The cancers which will afflict many in decades to come... it's all a fine symphony I shall savour for years to come, rather than simply a bombastic creschendo I expected it to be.

I hope I haven't made a mess of your Castle, must be a lot of wall to sweep and I genuinely wouldn't want to make you suffer such tedium. We're the same aren't we Lord Stark, when it comes down to it. You create incredibly beautiful weapons that are built to cause pain and death. You are the prop-master of the Opera we wreak, I wonder, have you ever considered becoming a larger part of the production.. like I? The Director, Producer and Writer in a performance through the medium of the art of horror.

Men call you a Merchant of Death but I don't think it's true. You aren't a salesman by my reckoning, a salesman cares only for profit. You build your elegant weapons because deep down you love seeing what they do, am I right? Is it not satisfying seeing a target eviscerated by a weapon in a training simulation.. but so much more to do so in the heat of battle or under your scalpel. Seeing the enemy not just beaten but seeing their fear and pleading as you eek the life from them. A Reaper of Souls but also a Master of Torment.. You sir are an artist, and I mean this not as an insult or some form of psychological torment as I often goad puppets with, but as one those with more cupidity than intelligence would call a Lord of Death to another. I toast you, and would be happy for my own death to be by your hand as you are one of the few in the Republic of weakling Bureaucrats I would credit with being an artist in the field.

I could explain to you the Republic is a flock of bleating weak fat sheep Lord Stark, I could attempt to convince you to join me in producing my art, to be another wolf among the pack. But I will not, for firstly a wolf has little interest in competition for his prey. Secondly, because I think you crave to be one of them, the rich pigs who scoff at you in their clubs on Coruscant, and sneer at your pretentions to the nobility they in the Core enjoy. You won't think that's true now in all probability, but in your subconscious, and at some time in the future, you will come to realize it, my friend. I also don't think you truly realize what you are yet, my young one.

But you will. And so, I'd like to grant you a boon, since even if you are not ready to be free mentally I can help you remain with the means to turn on the pack when you realize it is your calling. Would you like the details of one of our weapons, that while illegal according to the laws the sheep write can fell a power armoured man in seconds? Which a lightsaber is powerless to block... and which inflicts the most painful death imaginable.. while being handheld?

While you couldn't get it to market, perhaps useful for your guards in case of Jedi or Special Forces troopers in your future?

Stark was unperturbed when Kerubiel contacted him on his public communications channel. It was night on Lorrd, and Stark's office within his home was dimly lit. Sitting in a comfortable chair more fitting a design desk than a lord's palace, Stark tapped his fingers together, listening to Kerubiel's words with nary an expression on his face. When at last the man stopped speaking, though, Stark levied his reply.

"Between my own design of atmospheric cleansing and Mr. Kruus' aid, I'm sure the people of Lorrd won't suffer too much from your workings. At least not in the short term. If anything, you allowed me to recreate a design that was once a weapon into something useful, for which I should thank you, I feel. That being said, I'm astounded as to how little you truly know about me.

"My weapons are an expression of a designer's art. They're tools, Kerubiel. How people choose to use them is not my decision or my business. While I can hope each weapon finds a home or a place where it can be used to defend its owner, that isn't always the case, and I can hardly look over each person's shoulder to make sure they are doing the lawful thing. I'm a weapons merchant, not a moral speechmaker.

"Regardless of what the Republic is or isn't, it still has paying customers. Rich pigs or not, enough of them buy my wares, and most of them have visited my pleasure world. Call it what you will, but they serve their use in their own way, just as I serve mine out here on the Rim.

"Still, you've piqued my interest. What weapon are you discussing?"

"Well, perhaps indeed we can form a non-aggression pact of sorts between House Stark's interests and our own. In exchange for being gifted with the blueprint to create our own Emulsifier weapon. It is a design that I am sure is illegal under various Republic laws, like Disruptors, but its one that could give those in need a badly needed advantage in boarding actions against scum such as the Hutts and their numerous slave species.

You cooperate with us in allowing our predatory nature to be expressed on certain Republic worlds, and that we might capture useful sentient flesh for sale to those who will pay a high price for it.. In exchange the predators will turn aside from those you wish us to turn aside from.. We could also share you space on worlds outside the Republic we have dominated totally, for completely anonymous bases for your craft and research facilities, beyond Republic laws?

Let us collaborate in our respective artistic fields. Neither of us is a law man, or constrained by the peon morality of the common being. Ours is a high and lonely calling, perhaps together you can make your art yet more profitable, while we can work without inhibiting the designs of another master craftsman..."

"That sounds like an excellent idea, Viscount. This emulsifier weapon; what precisely does it do? I can infer much from the name, but that tells little. I am sure from HoloNet access, you're aware of the sorts of small weapons I am capable of offering in return; what isn't shown are the suits of armor and the experimental weapons I possess; weapons of great destructive capability that would be able to damage your enemies with little worry in return.

"Now, in terms of cooperation, what exactly are you implying? Is it a place you wish to set up shop in Republic space that you'd like? Or something else?

"I can agree fully, Viscount, that men of our caliber must rise above our station. As a gesture of good faith, I'd like to offer you something. There is an uninhabited system where some of my forces have recently located some squatters in an asteroid of some size. I'm going to have them clean out the squatters, if you catch my drift, and if you wish, you and yours can look it over."

"Make them ssssssuffer.. their fear must be an example to others not to return... The asteroid could be useful. You may leave the smell of blood.. it.. hones my abilities" he spoke in an almost sexually aroused manner, rather creepily. "I must go now.. " he said abruptly, looking away from the holocamm, Stark couldn't see he was looking at a man with the blood eagle cut into his back as he would see Kerubiel draw a thin serrated blade. "I'll have some satellites put there, but I would prefer to explore the Chopani Sector to be a base of operations. My people are lovers of the void, in our souls, in space, in the open chest of a still living man... A base in that void would be so remote and undetectable the idea almost titillates me. In a few months though, when the heat is off and the Republic is in chaos... then I will take you up on the offer for an asteroid base. "

Young Lord Stark.

I need a favour. Can you buy Ziost for me from the Alderaan scum. They're probing around in my ancestral ruins. Declare it a prohibited weapons testing site for your companies or something buy id like it empty of Alderaan or other trouble influence from the Republic.

In return il let you have a favour... And after you saw the Art at Duros, I think you'll agree such favours have value?

Name a planet, within reason, and il ruin it for you. A business rival perhaps? Those Nikto at Drongar I can obliterate as a little gift gratis along with you getting the emulsifier design I mentioned which is pinned to a notice board labeled "To the Dean of Equivocal studies" at the Lorrd univetsity main campus union...

Do we have an accord?
