Player's Note: I'm going to make a post in this at a minimum of every 2 days, preferably everyday. For the purposes of this thread, and for reviving some role play here I'll be creating characters, situations, etc - whatever characters you currently have, they will have a place in this thread. I am here to play, and for us to tell a story.

He was from a quiet, out of the way world lost to the annals of the Republic. Called Yashuvhu, its primary claim to fame was that a lone Jedi had been exiled there many centuries ago and established a bloodline, that while not practicing the Jedi traditions had been a Forceful family, and for many years members of the family had played influential roles in the planetary government. They had been late to adopt space-facing technology, and even now any travel to and from the planet wasn't done by the natives. No, Talym Sol's introduction to the galaxy had purely been a matter of chance...or perhaps the will of the Force, depending on how one viewed such things.

His master was an older man, a lightsaber duelist from what seemed like another time. The Jedi Order had been changing, and life had certainly changed for Tes'dra Nintra ten fifteen years ago when the Republic exploratory mission he had been assigned to was attacked by what had seemed like a random group of deep space pirates. They had crash landed on Yashuvhu after suffering significant damage to their vessel, and he had been the lone survivor. The local villagers had timidly approached the ruins, as to their technologically delayed society, it had been almost as if gods had been battling in the skies above their world. They took a seriously wounded Tes'dra in, and when pirates descended to the planet's surface to finish the job and loot what they could, the villagers took up arms to protect him.

A hellish battle ensued and in the end, Tes'dra called upon the power of the Force, uniting the villagers in a powerful battle meditation that enabled them to defeat the pirates and capture their ship. Already wounded and paying the physical toll that the Force required of such effort, Tes'dra spent several months on the planet under the care of the villagers, in particular the chieftain's daughter, Evadne. He was a younger man then, and she had been a beautiful woman - the kind that you only find once in a lifetime. Far away from the Core, the Republic and the Jedi Order, Tes'dra Nintra forgot his Jedi vows and fell in love. A short while later, a baby was born and Tes'dra believed that his time as a Jedi was over...

But it was not to be. Tes'dra had gone to investigate what had looked like another ship crash landing on the planet, only to discover an empty vessel. It had been a ruse. A powerful fallen Jedi, one that had long ago been a Padawan in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant with Tes'dra had tracked him to Yashuvhu, and seeking to exact revenge for a perceived wrong long ago given, murdered the inhabitants of Tes'dra's adopted village. A terrible disturbance in the Force tore through Tes'dra, and he rushed back too late to save anyone. A battle ensured, the dark Jedi a warrior in the prime of his life and training, a keen blade. Tes'dra had been wounded, and for nearly a year had started to forget what it meant to be a Jedi.

But tragedy is a quick reminder, and after a long and hard fought battle, Tes'dra stood over the body of his defeated villain and for a moment was lost in the silence of the massacred village. Not unscathed from the battle, he had lost his left hand and forearm, several inches short of his elbow - but as a duelist of the Makashi tradition, he had finished the duel one handed. The silence seemed permanent and unbearable...until the faint cries of an infant broke the silence.

Evadne and their baby were dead, but another child lived. He clipped his lightsaber to his belt, knelt down, and swaddled the baby in a blanket, cradled him to his chest with his remaining arm, found the fallen Jedi's ship, and returned to the Republic, and the Order...

He had returned to the Jedi Order and was returned to the rolls of the living, as after the Republic expedition had lost contact, he had been presumed dead with them. He presented the baby to the Order as a potential Jedi, and the child was accepted. Still recovering from his wounds, his secret sorrow, and adjusting to life with a prosthetic limb he accepted a position as a lightsaber instructor within the Temple itself and for several years watched the baby grow. It is the tradition of the Order, that Jedi not know their biological families, and so the child was never told of the horror that had brought him to the Order, this was a secret Tes'dra kept to himself, allowing the whispers and concerns of his fellow Jedi and the Council itself to wash over him.

When the child turned 11, Tes'dra deemed him fit to take as a Padawan and informed the Council that he would be taking the young boy, Talym, as his Padawan. The Council agreed, hoping that training the boy would help to bring Tes'dra out of the dark and lonely place he seemed to have gone in his years as a lightsaber instructor within the Temple. It was quietly agreed behind closed doors, that Nintra was suffering from a combination of survivor's guilt and perhaps post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the massacre and battle he had told the Council about. Perhaps it was time for the Jedi Knight to heal.

Four years have passed since Tes'dra first took Talym as his Padawan learner, and the boy has proved to be an apt and dedicated pupil, but even he is unable to ignore the whispers, that there is a dark secret in his past, that it was not with happiness that his family delivered him to the Order. His quiet and taciturn Master offers nothing on the subject, and suggests that it is best to focus on the "now" instead of "a past you couldn't change". The pair has become a reliable resource for both the Jedi Order and the Republic, and currently the pair has been assigned to a mission to investigate a missing politician in the Deep Core.

The Republic shuttle bringing them to the world has docked on a space station along the major hyperspace route, and the two Jedi in the traditional brown robes of the Order are making arrangements for a place to stay the night aboard the station when a warning klaxon goes off, Pirates are attacking the station!

Please anyone and everyone feel free to hop in, under whatever capacity or role you'd like!!!

Well. With a lot less Existential angst and expository dialogue. The fact this was a Major station on a significant route meant that the shakedown patrol of the of the 1 Bireme-class Line Corvette "Vae Inquietos" was under his command rather than his standard vessel, the Berethon, which had been seconded to Jedi Master Kadek's battle against the plague in the Kanz Sector.

Naturally exiting hyperspace for a routine check of the station testing it's hyperdrive on its shakedown, any piratical activity might raise some eyebrows. And in fact cause the launch of it's six Lancet-class Fighters "Unidentified vessel bearing 23:32143 please identify cargo and destination." came the standard Judicial Corps hail to any vessel appearing "Piratical"

There would be no response from the pirates. Emerging some distance from the space station, they had already ignored the initial attempts at communication from the station itself.  The pirate group consisted of six hyperdrive capable Z-95 headhunters, 2 Z-95's which had arrived attached to a small, nondescript freighter of generic design that had been retrofitted by the pirate group to serve as a small corvette. (1 dorsal mounted turbolaser, point defense lasers, improved armor and shields as opposed to a generic freighter type vessel, 2 mounts to carry snubfighters).

In light of the significant power advantage held by the Republic forces arrayed against them, the elderly leader of the pirates gave the command for the modified freighter to maintain its distance from both the space station and the republic cruiser, while the 8 headhunters screamed towards the space station. Six of them (those that had arrived via hyperspace) aligned themselves into a wedge formation and hurtled towards the cruiser and its 6 lancet fighters, arming lasers as they prepared to offer a diversion while the other 2 headhunters screamed towards the space station, arming the 2 space bombs each carried.

Aboard the space station another type of attack was beginning. As if the warning klaxons were a signal of sorts, a small group of individuals, 2 humans, 1 Quarren and 1 Zeltron female armed with blaster pistols and surprise opened fire on one of the many security kiosks aboard the station. Quickly overcoming the unfortunate pair of security guards that had been particularly unprepared for a close range surprise attack, they turned and took up a defensive position in the kiosk, so that as the security force was sure to respond, they'd have some modicum of cover. The Zeltron female ducked down under the cover of the kiosk, and inserted a code cylinder of the kiosk's computer and started to mutter to herself, waiting for the slicing algorithm to do its work.

The two Jedi took off at a jog, as the sounds of blaster fire could be heard across the station.

(If you or anyone else want to play the security forces that's fine, if not I'll play out that part myself).
