Personality: Gerard Rex is is a hard, unwavering man when it comes to his goals and he will use any means necessary to achieve them. An advocate of health, he is at the peak of Human musculature, practically bereft of body fat and his thin size belies the strong muscle beneath. Well-versed in knowledge of hand-to-hand combat, Rex still prefers to fight from afar, or better yet, from behind a desk. The nickname 'Grendel,' originating from ancient legends about a man-eating monster, came to him from several sources in regards to his morally grey methods of acquisition and continued ladder-climbing, regardless of how many lives he ruined to achieve his goals.
History: Gerard Rex is the owner of the Bright Nebula Conglomerate, a massive transport company that is widely believed to exist among the top three-hundred trading companies on Coruscant. Originating as Bright Nebula Traders, the company grew over twelve generations of the Rex family, culminating in a company whose strength was in its small size, advocating a much higher quality of speed and safety assurance over mass quantity vessels. Wise investments by the Rex family ensured that they were among the Coruscant wealthy, ensuring as well that young Gerard was schooled in business management and all the necessary trappings to run the company. However, it was not enough for young Gerard.
Gerard was born lacking a certain something; what most would call a conscience. The boy was, quite certifiably, a sociopath. Learning early and utilizing his charm and talents, Rex was able to fool most outside of his direct family. Nonetheless, his father caught on to Gerrard's darker nature and refused him the company, citing one of his other brothers to receive control of it. At the age of twenty, Rex acted carefully and decisively to secure his future and eliminated his father and his older brother to ensure his inheritance. Working in tandem with his younger brother, Gerard moved rapidly, expanding his family's company in hostile takeovers, buyouts, assimilation of rival companies and even sabotage and piracy of competitors until, over the years, he'd managed to amass a fortune hundreds of times greater than the Rex family could ever have dreamed of if not for his actions.
Having achieved status as a 'trade baron' only some five years prior to the current date, Gerard threw in his lot with the Commerce Guild to achieve even greater wealth, albeit at the cost of some of his autonomy. Bringing to the Commerce Guild's table a large security force helped to sweeten the deal as well.
Despite it all, there is a further, secretive side to Gerard; a closely guarded secret within his family is their heritage to Contispex I, leader of the Pius Dea movement. The beliefs, still worshiped in secret, were brought down to Gerrard, who plans to use his wealth an influence to turn Humans against alien races he deems 'unclean' or 'unworthy' or existing in the galaxy. With only a small core of devout followers, however, he'll need to build an army to turn the tide, and his sights are set against the Hutts.
