Jedi Master Kruus

"We are so distrusted and hated, in so many places. I served as a Watchman in many. Why? Because we are no longer seen as servants of Justice and Peace but as decadent esoteric martial arts obsessives. You want my advice upon which career path to choose when you complete your training? I suggest any that focuses on protecting and serving others, not the simple mastery of lightsaber forms or philosophy, those have their place; but as secondary to our role as the Protectors of the Republic."

- Jedi Master Kruus in one of his more controversial lectures to Padawans approaching Knighthood.

Demeanor
Gentle but firm, passive but willing to use force where required. Frustrated at the face the Jedi Order seems so impotent of late, to a degree. Believing firmly that as a Warrior Master, among many who served at the Temple who never served other roles and simply practiced swordplay, they ought to go out into the Galaxy and do good.

Background:

Although a prolific duellist within his training Clan, Kruus excelled himself in understanding the need for secrecy and subtle conduct as he served under his Master Yoda himself. who suggested to him the dark but necessary path of the Jedi Shadow. After his Knighthood he served as a Jedi Watchman on Aargau, training a padawan to Knighthood (who unfortunately died of a congenital disease shortly after passing the trials, despite this trauma, he served two decades as a Jedi Shadow, doing the work of the Order in Sith Space and the surroundings that needed to be done, be it desirable by the normal ethics of the order or not. In order to protect the greater good, sometimes principles had to be bent. None of his operations were ever detected and he was responsible for the destruction of a considerable sum of Sith knowledge.

After this time though he requested personally to be allowed to return to the Jedi Temple to serve as a simple Gate Master, so that he might over the decades restore his tranquility and inner calm. He has found this here and has found an enlightenment in the thought that all work has value, no matter it's seeming triviality, is productive, so he minds little standing under the eves of the temple in the shadows, leaning on his staff in a dark night as the wind and rain howl around him... Because he has the sense that no matter in what capacity, he is serving the Order

Force Proficiency: All manner of combat skills, also the skills of moving unseen, and a gift for mind tricks have always served him well. Some grasp of alteration as regards certain non-combat skills if he focuses his mind.

Weapon of choice: A Lightsaber Pike, with a single yellow blade which he uses as a staff for walking as much as anything else, the Phrik coating making it resistant to the slashes of lightsabers and allowing it's use as a blunt instrument if necessary, although perfectly fit, he often found it useful to masquerade as weaker than one was in order to be underestimated, a skill he learned from Master Yoda. The advantage of his pike is that it's five and a half foot long handle allows considerably more battery power to be carried and so he in theory could remain in combat longer.

The end section of his pike is detachable to become a standard lightsaber, should it be required. The lightsaber has a dual-phase setting but not between lengths, between a training mode and a standard one, allowing him to incapacitate rather than kill even the worst of brigands on the Jedi Temple's Plaza.
