The Emirate of Rothana is passed down from Father to Son and is the hereditary absolute rulership over the icy planet of Rothana who's tribesmen were conquered four thousand years prior to the present by Kuati Colonists who subsequently went rather native in their dress and traditions, while retaining a distance from the majority locals they governed who regarded them as weak and effete (the former living in caves in the harsh tundra and hunting or farming mushrooms, while the Kuati descended city dwellers live in the durasteel cities that churn our material at such a rate that the 5% minority was within a hundred years able to completely pacify the great mass of tribesmen) despite their holding the better economic and military position for generations. Rothana's Emirate was founded three thousand years ago after the colonists set aside their differences with the tribesmen and the two ruling families intermarried, producing a single government, in line with Techno Union tradition (with whom the colonists had done much business) their leader was named the Emir.
Junior Director for Diplomatic Relations at Kuat Drive Yards
A position gained as part of his sale, until his abilities or contractual requirements (required at 45) cause KDY to promote Schmuel he holds this position as a sinecure. His role is one in which the thirty two year old aristocrat is free to choose whether to work a great deal or be indolent. In order to stay close to Galactic Society he has opted to base the office he is entitled to out of Coruscant. A non-executive, non-board position with no actual power in the company without board assent.
Corporate Ambassador to the Techno Union Foreman's Office, KDY
This was extended in no small part due to Schmuel's regular social interaction with the Techno Union Foreman and his knowledge of Skakoan culture and even to a degree, language.
Deputy-Representative and Lobbyist, Techno Union Mission to the Galactic Senate
The second in command of the Techno Union's non-voting mission to the Senate. Really this mission is simply a ruse to get Techno Union Lobbyists inside the Senate Rotunda where they can network and advocate on the Union's behalf. Schmuel Represents the Techno Union when Senate statements are required while the Head of the Mission is unavailable.
History: A rich upbringing thanks to a trust fund from his dead father lead him to become extremely friendly toward Kuat Drive Yards (his mother was from the Kuat Bloodline and had been born on Kuat) who did the majority of business with his father's state monopoly business "Rothana Heavy Engineering". The young Emir sold 51% of his corporation to Kuat Drive Yards in exchange for 1% of Kuat's own shares (regarded as being a good deal), he has since sold more than half of his remaining RHE share in exchange for cash assets. As an understanding with the deal, the Emir of Rothana would receive a Junior Directorial post at Kuat Drive Yards age thirty, and a full board Directorship at age 45. The Emir retains a 5% royalty on all KDY and RHE material built on Rothana and has in exchange granted KDY full tax exemption in his space.
