Born into the Thanatos clan, Kal was raised to be a warrior. His family had
always been warriors. Their clan was one of the strongest. No one
dared to challenge them. Their heritage still lives on within him.
At age 5, Kal was discovered by a Jedi Knight that had been dispatched to
their planet to help bring peace between several clans before they
started an all out war on the planet. It was this Jedi Knight that
brought him back to the Academy, and was assigned as his Master.
As his training progressed, Kal's abilities began to grow stronger and
stronger. The Jedi Council noticed this, and rewarded him for his
advancement and strength in the ways of the Jedi. He was put through
the Trials at age 15. Way earlier than any of his peers, or any of the
current Jedi Knights. Amazingly, they weren't any trouble for him. The
Council Knighted the young Thanatos.
As a Jedi Knight, Kal was a trust member of the Order and was continuously given missions that
would test his skills. It was during his latest mission that the young Jedi Knight would have his eyes opened a bit. Up until then, he had always been able to keep the peace and bring the issues, which he was sent to resolve, to a peaceful ending. On this mission, Kal's peaceful endings weren't anywhere to be found.
The year was 97 BBY, and Kal had been sent to Bakura once the Droid Uprising had begun. Upon his arrival, the settlers had nearly lost twenty percent of their colony. Seeing the death and destruction the droids had brought to these people had shown Kal that there truly was evil out in the Galaxy, and not just the low life that he had experienced from his previous missions. With the help of the Colony, they were able to eradicate the threat of the Droids, but it was at a cost of forty percent of the settlers. This large percentage weighed on him. He continuously thought if only he had been able to get there several days before, he could've been able to stop the death and suffering these people were put through.
After his return, per the Council, Kal was to be taken out of action for a time while the Council would determine if what he had seen affected him. It only took a few weeks before Kal would be back out there, bringing peace to the Galaxy once again over the next few years. He continued on, serving the Jedi Order and the Republic over various missions and travels.
