| As for family I just mentioned it as you yourself cited it as a factor. My children are all grown up and so prove to be little task to me. My current weekly hours run at around forty-five which I find sustainable.
Each morning I have a briefing from the SBI which lasts around an hour. This is followed by my work with the appropriations committee which takes up usually a couple of mornings a week if day to day affairs are running as they should. This leaves me time to attend the Senate when required and certainly every day from noon at the latest. My leadership of the Cartography Service is a totally pro-bono position I volunteered for and do on days the Senate is closed as its a small bureau with a small but dedicated team of staff who are able to operate independently the majority of the time.
I collect one paycheck, for my Senatorial duties, yet provide the Republic with a variety of services it would otherwise pay for; in short, a bargain. Any human with simple work management skills ought to be able to do more than just be a Senator, and I urge those who are Senators and nought else, why not volunteer your time for the good of the many charitable works (Alsakan helps co-fund many of these it should be noted) on the Galactic City, helping feed and clothe the needy, helping those out of work back into jobs, getting medical care gratis for those in need? These are what I did before I had other appointments.
