"I've been gone for five years, dad....FIVE YEARS...and within a month you're already parading the son of every Lord, King, businessman, Senator and milk man through here like..."  Ilanah would sigh and dropped into the wing back chair across from her fathers desk.  Antar, the poor man, had no idea what she had really been through, and what had really happened during the time. The only ones who knew were her physician, a Wookiee, and unfortunately Antar's attorney and 'fixer'; aside from Lana herself.  She glanced at him again before she stood up and paced in front of his desk.

"And besides, the last time you pushed the son of some god unknown lord my direction, I was kidnapped.  Did I mention FIVE YEARS!?  Five years of not even knowing who I was and I won't lose myself again!"  She wasn't really yelling, but her voice was raised and she was very vehement about what she was saying. Every word she spoke was true; she had lost herself, just not in the way Antar believed.  With Antar's office door open, anyone could have heard, but Ilanah did not really care.  He then nodded some and started to speak.

"Lana, You have to understand..."  He started slowly, as if he was going to try to explain.  "It would not hurt your past...reputation to at least be seen with..."  Antar would note the scowl that was now set firmly across his daughters face, and he stopped. "I only mean, sweetheart, that it might do you good to make some new friends."  He tried that approach and watched for a sudden change in mood.  It didn't happen, however, and she was still upset.  "I missed you so much, and I just want to see you happy, baby.  You understand?"  He was certainly a politician through and through.

Ilanah crossed her arms across her midsection and tapped a high heeled foot on the floor briefly.  She was in a pink dress, a color which she detested, but her father had purchased, so she was trying to appease him.  "I'll smile, and play nice, dad.  I'll even visit Uncle Mercurio and play the part of the princess.  But Dad....there is one thing I will not do.  Not for you, not for anyone."  She paused and pulled the circlet out of her hair that he had given her, before she tossed it down on his desk.

"I will NOT marry someone I hate.  Not for you, not for him, not even to make myself look better. And also...I hate pink. "  At that, she would turn on her heel and start towards the door, having not noticed that Ethan was waiting just outside to speak to Antar.

Antar had tried, oh how he had tried, to get his daughter adjusted to palace life.  It became more and more clear to the King that she would never truly be happy on Naboo, not in a permanent sense.  She would always have roots there, and she would have a home, and she would be a princess, whether she played the part or not.  Instead of trying to force it, Antar had made a decision.  The Naboo needed a diplomat, someone who knew the galaxy and had a way with people; and his daughter did know the galaxy and had always been incredibly social.  Yes, she had her trouble in the past, but the past was what it was- past.

So what would she do?  Represent Naboo, and her people, and not be stuck on the planet and trapped within the gilded palace walls that made her so unhappy.  Of course, he was afraid that if she left again, he would lose his daughter completely again.  It was a risk he would have to take, to attempt to ensure her happiness.  Whatever she wanted, she would have, and whatever she needed, Antar would still provide.

Secretly, Antar did hope that she would ask Ethan to go with her.  Ethan, the young man whose father had sent to deliver some paperwork and goods to Naboo.  He was the son of a Lord, and she did seem to get along with him, so Antar could hope at least.  He wouldn't push, but he would hope.  She could, after all, use an escort.  He plotted for several minutes before he pushed the thought out of his mind.  Ilanah was smart, and she was independent, and if she wanted an escort, she would have one.  Even if it was that Wookiee that had brought her home, and he had heard her talking to on more than one occasion.

For the moment, he just sent his assistant to find his daughter, so he could tell her his idea and see if she would be interested in representing Naboo.
