| He rose from his chair to stand over the three. "This is a hearing, not a court. Might I remind both counselors that any being is presumed innocent before being proven guilty in a court of law. No one being has any obligation to profess their guilt, merely the option should they chose," he said, as a speech honestly intended towards the three of them. He then turned to Ms. Styles.
"Madame Styles, Mister Stark was never given any bail to post, so I fail to see how he did so. As I have overseen this case since his arrest, which occurred a mere two days before this hearing, I do not know where or how you could have been placed under this false assumption, unless your client is lying to you. Now, the prosecutor offered his plea deal. Instead of countering, you have stuck, twice, to your original plea. I was hoping you would work with the prosecution and we could avoid a trial here... but this is clearly not the case."
He then turned to address all three once more, but took his seat again. "Very well, since neither side can come to a plea agreement, and clearly no will to negotiate exists between the two parties, then I am hereby ordering this case to trial. For the sake of expedience, I will conduct personal oversight of the trial, rather than sending this court as a whole; we will begin this afternoon. I hope that you two can be more civil in there than you have been in here. Good morning, counselors."
With that, they were given leave to exit his office.
