Luneray Kruus comes from a well established lineage of voracious social climbers, who ate their way to the very top of the pile. He is though not awfully popular with the current Trade Federation regime under Nute Gunray, and was vocally critical about the damage done to the brand of the Trade Federation by the Naboo affair (referring to it as an "omnishambles" to the media). Despite being an opponent of Gunray he appears to have survived being "bumped off" due to his universally regarded status in Neimoidian society as a Polymath and Poet, as well as his role in the Directorate being somewhat minor so as to pose no threat to the Gunray faction while promoting the idea that Gunray did tolerate detractors.
Kruus has difficulties with the amount being spent on increased armaments by the Directorate (in private), pointing out that building up military forces was only likely to cause damage to the company image were it to become public knowledge. Mostly Kruus travels around the Galaxy in his current role, seeing that local Trade Federation officials are following his directives and memos aimed at improving the image of the company after the Naboo debacle.
Really, Kruus sees himself as something of a "stalking horse" for the position of Viceroy. While his position on the board is weak and he lacks close allies, he does very much represent the "Alternative view" of what the Trade Federation should really be about. As such, while he would never bring it about himself, he assumes that the Viceroy's luck has to run out, and his close allies would likely fall too for having advocated the policies and ventures embarked upon during recent years. As such he keeps himself away on long business trips much of the time, avoiding becoming embroiled in the schemes Gunray has underway and also remaining away from the cut-throat politics of Neimoidia.
Ideas for characters to use to Roleplay to interact with Kruus
- Due to his distance from Gunray a figure broadly sympathetic to the older Trade Fed ethos, can be relied upon to aid the Jedi or Republic where its justifiable to do so.
- An obvious one, if you don't like the Trade Federation, to target him or his ships as senior officials.
- Humanitarian aid will be donated on request where required to help the brand of the Trade Federation.
- Leaders might want to use his ability to requisition large and comfortable ships for social events, conferences or as "neutral ground" for negotiation.
- If you need something big moved from A-B safely.
- If seeking an eligible young Neimoidian of considerable means either to rob or wed.
- Businesses can contact the TF for loans or investments, Kruus is an approachable guy about this.
- If anyone wants to work for the TF.
- Journalists will find him happy to grant interviews, perhaps to try and get anti-gunray statements out of him.
- To Hutts, an excellent opportunity to luxuriate and plot with a fellow hedonistic and amoral opportunist.
- Trade Federation characters can consult him on anything for a second opinion or approval for actions.
- As a noted polymath, he's well worth consulting on issues of all kinds.
- Seeking patronage or favours in the Trade Federation Directorate by businessmen and leaders.
