A dark room. Where hardly mattered, certainly not to Jericho Novak who appeared incorporeally in the middle of the room, a blue hologram in the darkness. All he would see of this place was the stern visage of a cowled figure, his stately features illuminated only by the hologram itself. It was light enough only for Novak to see and feel the man's penetrating glare upon him. This was Darth Tyranus, a side of the former Jedi Master-turned-Count Dooku's personality that few had seen. For a Sith, Tyranus was a surprisingly cold calculator. Dispassionate, even. But that a fire smoldered within him, there was no doubt; for if dead men told tales, there would be many of the wrath of Darth Tyranus.

Novak, of course, would not disappoint him. No, he'd dare not disappoint the Dark Lord of the Sith.

"Darth Novak," he said, his deep voice resounding in the darkness of the chamber. "The time is almost upon us, and we have much to do."

Having gone through the kneeling greeting and stood, Novak, apprentice Sith to the Dark Lord of the Sith; former Jedi Master, nodded to the Count's words. On his end of the holo-feed, he watched the stern visage without blinking. "There is always much to do, Master Tyranus." Novak knew well the face of Count Dooku, but Darth Tyranus was the name of the moment and therefore, the name he'd use. For the moment, he stayed quiet about his own personal mission.

By now, Novak knew of Count Dooku's plans. Soon, the Count would make a dramatic re-appearance in public, denouncing the decadence of the Republic and championing the cause of secession. The ruination of the Republic was at hand, and the end of the Jedi Order that had failed Novak just as it had failed all those Jedi who'd perished on Galidraan.

And there was, indeed, much to do. For this New Order to succeed, a Separatist movement had to be built, and it had to be built with the support of an unpleasant cast of self-serving characters from the commerce guilds, each of whom had to be appeased with the promise of profit. It was demeaning work for the Dark Lord of the Sith and his prodigy, but it was necessary work. When the Republic and the Jedi were vanquished, the likes of Gunray and Tambor could be disposed of. But for now, the movement needed them. Novak understood this as well as Dooku did.

"The leaders of the Techno Union are a shrewd, self-serving lot, but not as craven or easily-intimidated as Nute Gunray," Tyranus explained, "To win the support of the Techno Union, we must persuade Wat Tambor that it would be in his interest to support us. I have promised him what he wants more than anything: de-regulation. But we must demonstrate first that our promises are not empty."

"I'm placing you at the disposal of Pho Nisko," he went on, "He is the foreman of the Techno Union's shipyards at Foerost, and the main lobbyist for the conglomerate. More importantly, he's someone Wat Tambor trusts. Do what Nisko would have you do, win him over, and we shall have won the Techno Union to our cause."

Novak was indeed aware of the Count's plans to denounce the Republic. By and large, Novak was indifferent to the Republic, though he played the apt pupil in regards to it's eventual ruin; more import was given to the ruin of the Jedi Order. Concerned less with the fall of the Order than the access to the numerous items in the Archives he'd not had time to access; Novak, in essence, went darkside for greater knowledge.

"I can do this," Novak responded carefully. "I suspect that the Republic will have their own near Nisko; it stands to reason there is more to it than simply courting the man. People may need to disappear and I don't want the Jedi to suspect anything. I suppose this will be one of those times when I end up playing errand boy. Nonetheless, as you say, Master, we need the support."

For a moment, Novak considered mentioning the search for the Harrower again, but then declined. Dooku had enough on his plate and while wooing Nisko to Dooku's cause would be time-consuming, it wasn't likely to occupy all of Novak's work, leaving him time to improve his Form and continue his search.

Dooku seemed to anticipate what Novak was thinking. Or perhaps he knew what he was thinking. Either way—"By all means, continue your search for the Harrower," he said, "It could prove useful to us, and our cause." He wasn't able to completely purge the skepticism from his voice, however. He had long sensed that Novak was marginally less interested in the cause than Dooku, who had the zeal of a convert and a recent one at that. How Dooku had come by his mastery of the Dark Side during his years of isolation was a mystery to Novak, one of many mysteries that interested the man, such as the whereabouts of the Harrower, an ancient Sith dreadnaught lost to history. Finding the old ship seemed rather academic to Dooku, but it was Novak's passion and Dooku humored his student. And if the ship was real, it would certainly contain information of great interest to someone else Dooku knew.

"But do proceed to Foerost. Make contact with this Nisko and find out what he needs from us. The wheels are beginning to turn, Darth Novak," Tyranus said, nodding gravely to his student.

Novak knew by now not to question what Dooku knew, or what Novak thought the Count knew. Either way, the man had an uncanny amount of knowledge and while Novak had indeed pondered, briefly, on where and how Dooku might have gained the knowledge had had; knowledge he'd imparted some to Novak, the former Jedi didn't question such things. Some questions were better left unasked... or unanswered. "The Dark Hammer," Novak began slowly, "The ship is called the Dark Hammer. Beyond a name and mention of a Sith Lord, whose name I've yet to uncover, I cannot place its location. My former Padawan is searching for information about it in the Raioballo Sector. I believe it may have spent some time there; possibly in Hutt Space as well, before coming to the Chommell Sector. The problem is that I do not know of which of these three areas it is hidden in."

Novak considered the task he'd been issued by Dooku, turning it over in his mind. "I will depart the Chommell Sector for Foerost. Nisko will be a prime objective. However... I may require a few things, depending on what we have to draw upon. I need assistance; alternate transport and extra hands. Both in case Nisko is willing to betray me for a Republic reward and for my search of this vessel, Master."
