| Cats are like Jamie. They don't fight to kill, but to win. There is a difference. There's no point in killing an opponent or destroying them entirely within the game. That way, they won't know they've lost, and to be a real winner you have to have an opponent who is beaten and knows it. There's no triumph over a corpse, but a beaten opponent, who will remain beaten every day of the remainder of their sad and wretched life, is something to treasure.
Unless they can again rise from where they were left broken and defeated. They are left with bitterness which can come Vendetta. And like all good vendettas, eventually didn't really need a reason any more. It was enough that it had always existed.
And thus their actions of revenge can redeem the vanquished by defeating their enemy (often my characters) and in theory give me the bitter taste of abject defeat piled on having gloried in victory would be all the more bitter. But like a pint of Bitter, so I'm always open to folk trying to bring me low.
