| Trade embargo stated explicitly to be in place with the Senex-Juvex due to their use of a plantation slave economy (although its true many of the slaves (human and local alien species) have been selectively bred to be incapable of living autonomosly like normal people, over hundreds of years. So wouldn't know what to do with freedom or what it even is. Basically trade in or out of the Senex-Juvex was outlawed due to them constantly being in breach of the rights of sentience and refusing to abolish this system and impose all Republic law as the price of membership.
Sources verifying a Trade Embargo with the Republic being in place until after the Nebula Front incident at the Eriadu Summit, after which it was lifted. This means there's at least 60 years more time to run on the Embargo before the canon does away with it.
The Essential Atlas, p.p. 210 Cloak of Deception which has a chapter centered in the Senex-Juvex
Sorry, but one should check before selling arms to sketchy guys.

| To help clarify this, with quotes directly dealing with the Senex-Juvex area, as it helps to have certain viewpoints:
"Valorum acknowledged it with a fatigued sigh. 'It's true. Slavery is what has prevented the Senex sector from openly trading with the Republic. The possibility of trade is what prompts their willingness to help us.'" -Cloak of Deception, p. 184
However, do keep in mind this:
"(as spoken by Chancellor Valorum) The Senex is an autonomous sector, ruled by a line of fiercely self-reliant royal houses. The Republic respects the independence of the Senex worlds, and has no interest in meddling in the affairs of those worlds." Cloak of Deception, p.183

| The Republic doesn't intervene, it just doesn't permit trade ships destined for Senex-Juvex space go there. It's independent but totally cut off from the Galactic market and starved of goods, its why the Atlas points out they're way behind in technological development. Think Berlin during the Blockade, minus the airlift.

| I don't think it actually says that.
I quote:
"Denied open trade, they were forced to deal with smugglers and dirty their hands with front corporations." Atlas, p. 210

| Just referring to a small quantity of peripheral gray area commerce with front companies based out of Hutt Space I assume. Had Stark used a front company in Hutt space to deal to the Senex Juvex from, he couldve done. A smugglers dream I am sure, except if the Judicials or Sector Rangers in surrounding areas bust you, like happened to Stark.
"The Houses realized that they had fallen behind the wider Galaxy technologically", their trade strangled and limited to small smuggling groups and fronts to sell their goods, making vastly less money than if they dealt with the Galactic Market. The Senex Juvex was so hungry for trade by the time of the Nebula Front Crisis it was willing to do almost anything to open trade up, including letting Republic Military forces onto one of their worlds.
Star Wars North Korea (equivalent but with less of a centralized autocracy), reminds me of their "Space Center" they proudly showed the western media before one of their failed satellites crashed into the sea which was described as a concrete newly but badly built box, with less inside space than a seven-eleven and rows of desks with networks of computers largely from the 1980s and early 90s with huge boxy monitors.
