| I'd like to propose that since the Jedi Temple Guard was founded "many years prior to the Clone Wars"* that Jedi Master Kruus be the driving force behind proposing to Van Zant the creation of this new force within the Jedi Order (since it conforms to his warrior ethos, he seems more likely than any of his successors to support creating such a force).
They would number no more than a hundred permanent members with perhaps another fifty at maximum being "seconded" to the Temple Guard for one to three years, either as a lesson (to help them learn discipline and tranquility) or alternatively to simply explore a role they had not previously considered. This would also be an excellent posting for Jedi who have seen extreme exposure to the Darkside (Jedi Shadows and some Guardians etc) as it would allow them to conduct and train with extreme discipline while having the time to meditate and ponder while on the long night and days they stand Sentinel.
*No source gives specifics and there's something about their bearing which seems very in step with the Van Zantianism around at the moment in contrast to the general rule of the Consulars and Sentinels for the past centuries in almost all council positions..
Jedi Master Raak Kruus

| Quote The Jedi Temple Guards were an ancient security group in the Jedi Order.
Sure, I approve the existence of the Temple Guard. It seems like they've been around a long time.
Quote They comprised various Jedi Knights and sentinels in the Order. The position of Temple Guard was considered one of the duties that a Knight could adopt, and Knights were chosen as part of their continuing commitment to the Jedi.
I don't see this as a disciplinary posting. More of a 'prestige' posting like the American Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. With such a public duty, I imagine only the best would be chosen. From what I've read of them, it also seems like the Temple Guard is a rotational posting, rather than a dedicated one.
However, I'm willing to approve sixty (60) maximum Jedi to this posting, which should allow for multiple shifts, days off, etc.
As a note:
Quote The Jedi Temple Guards were tasked with the protection of the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant, and were a part of the security force, reporting to the head of security.
I'm not averse to Kruus being the head of security (a different position than Gate-master), if you like.
The only downside is that these Jedi, being 'Temple Guard,' don't go out on missions or guard envoys or escort. Likely, they're strictly on Coruscant at the Jedi Temple.

| Well at present I forsee him just being Gate Master
Perhaps Van Zant might see fit to elevate him (I also think the precise number of Guards should ultimately be in his court depending on if he wants to endorse the idea)
I imagine being an honour guard for a soldier might be very meaningful. Less for most warrior philosopher monks... Its a bit "above their pay grade" would be the view I think most who didn't volunteer would take. Those with humility might want such a position, otherwise since Temple Security is an unpopular duty in general I don't see it as being something most Jedi fancy doing, let alone spending their career doing.
And I believe any member of the Order would do as commanded by the Council.. Unless they felt the force willed them not to etc. I dont see them being deployed except ex-shadow members being deployed again as shadows etc or ex guardians as guardians.

| I agree that we'd need Van Zant before determining appropriate numbers.
In regards to deployment, I meant more in the sense that Temple Guard wouldn't be deployed outside of the Temple in their 'Temple Guard' regalia and weaponry.

| Unless ordered to do so. Certainly not on normal missions. But perhaps to apprehend rogue Jedi etc. I mean they chased all over Coruscant after Tano when she ran, its perfectly plausible their mandate might extend to apprehending other fugitives from Jedi justice.
Either way. Up to Mr Van Zant I imagine.

| Well, with no comment, we can discuss the actual reach of the Temple Guard when they actually hit play.
Until then, Approved.
