The organization would be dubbed Outer Systems Manufacturing, Inc. The official platform for the organization is that they manufacture and sell pretty much any types of weapons, ship and vehicle parts, and ships & vehicles themselves to anyone within the Republic. As well as doing manufacturing for anyone inside the Republic. The unofficial platform is that the organization, especially Tremaine, is dedicated to the freedom, security, and justice for the Republic. They have their own line of warships and fighters to combat with any threats against the Republic. Our "security division" specializes in space combat, except for when boarding is necessary.

It's good to see you back, Tremaine. I like this idea of yours, especially how familiar it is; a sense of familiarity is something I want to go for in this RP. However, there is a new rule concerning corporations:

Quote
2.4. Corporations in the RP will be placed into the following categories:

Class 1. A small-sized company operating on a single planet.

Class 2. A medium-sized company operating on multiple planets in one sector.

Class 3. A large-sized company operating in multiple sectors. May have Class 1 and 2 subsidiary companies and sector-specific security forces.

Class 4. A large-sized company operating in many sectors with competitively-priced products and services. May have Class 1, 2, and 3 subsidiary companies, including canon companies, and inter-sector security forces. Eligible for Senate representation.

Class 5. An immense, galaxy-spanning corporation. Usually ancient. May have Class 1, 2, 3, and 4 subsidiary companies and a full-scale army and navy. Eligible for Senate representation.

This means two things for your request:

1.) Depending on whether your corporation starts out as a Class 1 or Class 2, you'll need to pick a planet (or a sector, if it's Class 2) where you build your products—that is, a location for your factory/shipyard. If you're a Class 2 company, you could have multiple factories on multiple planets. For a first request, however, I do recommend a factory rather than a shipyard; you could build the parts you need for your ships and then have them constructed for you at another shipyard in the RP, at least until you become large enough to have your own shipyard.

2.) The "security division" is a problem because only Class 3, 4, and 5 corporations can have their own inter-planetary security forces. Your goal, I think, is to have a fleet that can stand up for democracy when the Republic doesn't. This is a noble goal. However, it's probably something that only a Class 4 or Class 5 corporation can realistically do in the RP, and it's going to take some time to advance to Class 4 or 5 from this, your first request. So I'm thinking it might be better for your goal if, rather than having a corporation (whose first and foremost goal is always, necessarily, to make money), that you instead have a renegade group of freedom fighters; maybe like Netan and his pirates, before they became pirates?

That's my recommendation, but I could go whichever way you'd like on this. Just let me know.

Actually, quite contrary, I wasn't planning on building a powerful fleet to face off against internal/external threats to the Republic. I was going about this Stargate-style, which is eventually building up to three Patriot-class capital ships and multiple Freedom-class starfighters. My plan was to focus extensively on starfighter combat. Hence, I was hoping to start off with a single Patriot-class light capital ship and two squadrons of Freedom-class starfighters. So there will be a lot of guerilla warfare in space combat going on.

Sounds ok. But I think I've done a bad job of explaining what kind of security forces the different classes of corporations are able to have. So let me break it down a bit more specifically (bearing in mind your corporation will be Class 1 or 2 to begin with). Something like this:

Class 1: Security guards, usually with non-lethal weapons.
Class 2: Security guards capable of using deadly force, probably some shielding of facilities and stationary defenses such as turrets. Airspeeders, etc.
Class 3: "Sector-specific security forces." As in, security guards or shock troops with transports or perhaps gunships and starfighters that can operate inside one sector only.
Class 4: Paramilitary troops with gunships, starfighters, small capital ships, operating in more than one sector (they can be used anywhere, basically).
Class 5: "Full-scale army and navy." For instance, the Trade Federation.

So you see the problem is you're going to start out without any ships. When you advance to Class 3, you'll be able to have a small fleet that's only allowed to travel inside one sector of space. I think you need a Class 3 or probably Class 4 company to do what your goal is, and it's going to take some time to advance to that level.

Update: It's been a couple of weeks, so I'm going to close up this request. Let me know any time you'd like to re-open it.
