From the mists of yore, I, Drayson Lorano de Vega, return. Once upon a morrow past, I, your humble servant, was not Drayson Lorano de Vega but, rather, Drayson Loran: cunning businessman and politician and CEO of the notorious Outlying Shipping Corporation, or OSC. The OSC was my magnum opus. My masterpiece. (Unfortunately, the two people who remember it—Jaron and Robert—aren't able to access the site!). Now, all these years later... in a world... of legends... comes a legend from another world... THIS SUMMER... DE VEGA... IS... BACK.
Better. Bigger. Than ever.
Okay, enough of that. Actually, this request will be smaller than ever because of the class system in the rules. Word on the street is you can request a Class 1 or Class 2 company to begin with. I request that De Vega Intersolar be a Class 2 company, and there's a reason for this: established by the De Vega family of Esseles, Vega Intersolar would be a nearly 800-year-old company, a party to the Expansionist Oligarchy that is today a shadow of its former glory. Once the preferred shipping company of the corporate titans of the Expansion Region, it has since lost most of its turf to its age old competitor, the Trade Federation. Vega Intersolar's area of operations has been reduced to the Circarpous Sector. (Thus satisfying the "Class 2" definition, though it would have a mostly-symbolic headquarters on Esseles). It would be widely considered a matter of when, not if Vega Intersolar will be consumed by the Trade Federation.
Sensing the imminent doom of his family's company, Drayson Lorano de Vega would assert control of the company in a last-ditch attempt to stop its centuries-long decline and restore the company, and the Vega family, to its former glory. Or does he have... ulterior motives?
More details in a followup request, but I wanted to establish the basics here first.

| Correct—a company doesn't necessarily need to start in the RP as a Class 1. A player can request a Class 2 company (or, theoretically, Class 3, 4, or 5, but I don't see myself approving those in a first request) if there's a good story to it. I like this story; the company having once been larger but since become much-diminished and indeed cornered in the Circarpous Sector. You're requesting a Class 2 company—an advantage over a Class 1 company request—but the history of the company makes it into a disadvantage for you. I like this, because I think a character is more interesting when he or she has obstacles to overcome, and I feel the same way about corporations in the RP. Indeed, the possibility of a character or a company not overcoming those obstacles is what creates suspense, and thus interest in that character or company.
If everything is easy for you, then you're Tyber Zann. Tyber Zann is many things—penis wrestling champion, tamer of man ravens, Nietzschean übermensch, big fan of "the Saruman" hairstyle, etc.—but he's also boring. Uh oh, I'm talking about Tyber Zann again. Where was I?
P.S. I liked Loran when he was Drake from the video game Nightfire. Still the best James Bond story ever—better than any Bond film or book. Skyfall is pretty good, but it loses points with me because of how ridiculous Silva's evil scheme is. Drake's evil scheme is much more sensible, if only dumb James Bond didn't have to ruin it. Definitely a dick move in the Sean Connery fashion. "You murdered the woman with whom I had cashual shex a couple of timesh... No world peash for you!"
