| Gentlebeings,
Might we ask if you are already in Trade harmony with the Federation? We've recently moved toward them being granted exclusive Transportation and Freight Monopolies within our space. How does this effect you? You'll need to enter negotiation with the Federation, I assume, if you wish to ship along the various trade routes we have within our domain.
At any rate. We would be forced to ask you to respect any such monopoly and you would be legally obliged to have all cargo bypassing our space to be aboard a Trade Federation craft or with a Trade Federation charter... The level of control we imposed on non-freight shipping would be to our own discretion and separate to our deal with the Trade Federation.
What think you?
And what can you offer us in pecuniary terms for allowing the current state of affairs to continue?

| As I think Lord Pestage meant to say, he wishes to in a non-threatening way query your receptivity to the idea of a Trade Federation monopoly on all routes bypassing Hegemonic space. While it may seem as if he was threatening your non-commercial vessels, this is a mere misunderstanding and what was meant was merely that the Ciutric Hegemony may consider a toll or levy on your ships on non-trade missions, as is it's right as an independent state.
Thus generally he solicits your opinion on the likely Trade Deal with the Federation. Would like to know if you've any concerns and would like to broadly express his support for shutting out the the less civilized worlds on the ends of the Trade Routes from Commerce, and his disapproval that the Trade Federation supports free trade across all the Outer Rim.
He also solicits an upfront payment to secure non-trading Lorrdian vessels safety and right to transit in the Hegemony, by no means any form of corruption, merely a statement that a contribution to the Anti-Pirate Fleet would be a good move, so theyre able to operate as efficiently as possible.
Sincerely,
The Honourable Malachi Kruus Esq. ___________ Sentenced to be a Lobotomized Slave Drone for Conspiracy to Defraud in High Office Legal Counsel to the Ciutric Hegemony (Briefly) Galactic Republic Attorney. (Retired) Legal Officer to the Trade Federation, Doldur Sector

| Mr. Kruus...
Interesting to see you retired from the legal profession to now serving the varied sharks of the economy.
I suppose it's an upside that you're speaking to soothe the words of those who are less able to speak without ushering threats in here and there.
That being said, Lorrd intends to continue, for the time being, as normal. Any issues will be brought up before the Senate and if need be, House Volmen's shipping fleet will have to take a longer way around, though I don't see it being an issue, as Lorrd also contracts with a number of other shipping companies, including the Baobab Merchant Fleet already.
Regards,
Roman Lekpin Former Senator, Lorrd (100 BBY-92 BBY) Chosen of House Garth

| He entered the room where this holocomm was going on, the Neimoidian and the man brandishing a pistol. He was astonished. Angered by the word "economic shark", this was not how it should be. The Hegemony under his vision was, if a shark, a placid and gentle basking shark "You're sworn to be a knight, that meant vows to act honourably didn't it?" his hand rested on the Rothanan Scimitar on his side as an implicit threat. "As your Duke, you will leave, you poor excuse for a thug... and you, Flunky? I will see that your father hears you are party to such unethical conduct."
The Neimoidian would slink away, and the human would storm out after lengthy eye contact with Schmuel. He then turned to the holocamera "Senator, I apologize. I recently became the liege Lord of the Hegemony and have yet cleanse the Ducal household. You will forgive this insult I hope?
What've these children been telling you?" he scrolled up through the record and shook his head, trying not to show his anger at how the nobles of the Hegemony were used to treating poorer neighbours.
"Allow me to set the record straight. Let me be blunt first though, if you wish I will have either of those beings in chains on Lorrd within a day if theyve been attempting anything illegal. This is not how the Ciutric Hegemony acts and we would gladly embrace Lorrd as friends and not seek to drive you away.
But I must be honest.
I must freely admit is is my intention to grant a monopoly to the Federation over the Trade Routes within our space. Their rates simply are unbeatable and will make our many Industrial worlds prime targets for Coreward investors. We're already a tax haven for many of the up and coming in Galactic Society, as any business here pays zero loccal taxation on it's profits, and likewise there is no income tax so beings can grow comfortable without Governmental meddling.
The Trade Federation would likely take legal action if you used the lanes it had bought a legal monopoly on but I would like us to come to some sort of compromise. The route to the Core is almost twice as long avoiding our lanes and the route to the worlds toward Serenno would be 3-4x as far away. I run a business, and I know this kind of detour isn't affordable, especially for shipping companies on tight margins... I don't want to drive a hard working company toward going under and I promise I would do everything within my power to ensure an arrangement could be made to allow affordable passage for your ships.
Naturally, non-commercial, diplomatic and civilian traffic (we should note though that this doesn't extend to warships) wouldn't be liable to any charges unless they breach customs rules (say carrying Spice, illegal weapons etc) would not be charged a decicred for using the monopolized route and would still enjoy the protections provided by the TDF.
Since I doubt House Volmen Shipping would consider simply becoming an affiliate member of the Federation (which I could help negotiate if it did) it'd be much cheaper to simply buy passage along our Trade routes to get to your markets switly. And after all, isn't the Hegemony a core market for you also. It's our world of Axxila which, while not the Core Worlds, must be the largest market for thousands of lightyears. We've a half dozen serious factory worlds, producing high tech components as required, in addition to agriworlds which produce numerous luxury goods in addition to good solid foodstuffs for our people.
We don't want you "off our turf" we want cooperation and a mutual exchange of commerce where we can mutually benefit. However, this said you must understand that even while we would love to trade with Lorrd and the Kanz Sector, 85%+ of our goods will always need to be shipped to the Core, and if a monopoly saves us a third on that shipping it represents a profit we can't refuse.
If we sign the monopoly over, we hope you will consider reasonable and temperate actions (not bankrupting your companies and exhausting hyperdrives taking circuitous routes half way around the Galaxy) but by either paying the charge for being ferried or taken in an organized across the zones which they will hold a monopoly over. To be honest, this is the Outer Rim and the protection would be a great boon for you as it will be our ships.
I will speak to the Directorate at the Trade Federation on your behalf, and if a affordable and I hope discounted rate is guaranteed to Lorrdian (or Kanz in general) ships passing the monopoly zone, would Lorrd consider establishing a campus of it's famous University on Axxila and also Ciutric IV to help the people here gain the skills they need for the Galactic Economy?"Added (15 April 14, 4:22 PM) --------------------------------------------- He would tap the control console "Senator Lekpin, is the channel still open?" Added (15 April 14, 7:06 PM) --------------------------------------------- Some minutes's later after getting his copy of the Trade Commission directive and chucking it aside with a crinkle of flimplast.
It seems al thoughts of charging you or your ships for passing throuh the space of my Hegemony. He'd reopen the comm, sending a digital copy ahead.
"It seems it is appearing as if we will not be selling the Routes to th eTrade Federationas they've been discouraged from purchasing them. May I say if this were your direct lobbying you've more senior friends in the Trade Committee than I do. Good Move, Senator Lekpin, a master stroke to relay a message so fast while we've been talking.
